Prologue... All the world s a stage and all the men and women merely players Shakespeare McAllen Hlgh School 15 a stage the teachers students and adm1n1strators are the play ers Our four years 1n h1gh school represent the a s c e nt of in actor from h1s first night to his last As Freshmen we feel the glare of the unfriendly llght s and cold faces ind then in our second year as Sophomores we become accustomed to the faces in the audience ln our un1or year we become seasoned actors and then our ben1or year r1ngs down the final curtain on the successful career All through these four years we exper1ence regret sadness triumph and gladness Be cause a year at MCH1 resembles a stage play we have chosen to present our past year at MCHI as a blg Broadway productlon We would l1ke to e xpr e s s our apprec1at1on to the All Valley Morning Express for the group picture of the football t e am the one of the starting te a m and the one of the boys llmbering up To Harold Sheetz photographer fo r the Valley Evening Monitor we would Gray Alberto Anzaldua and Tito Torres and several action pictures 1n the sports sec tion as well as some in other sections of the book Almost all other pictur e s are staff plctures however By mlstake Arthur Guerra s name was left out of the masthead on the 1 nt r oduc t o r y page H15 name should have appeared as one of the staff members l l 6 I C G l' I O I1 . . . Only one person in the history of McAllen High bchool ha s been a student teacher and princxpal at our alma mater That person in Don lrw1n It would be an understatement to say slmply that Mr lrw1n IS a frxend to McAllen High School and yet that 15 exactly what he 1S Mr Irwin s devotion tothls school 1S6V1Cl8flCed by his fr1end11ness to students hi s whole hearted cooperatxon with student 3Ct1V1t18S his many hours of extra work and his frank admiration for the enviable achievements of stu dents 1n both scholast1c and athlet1c contests We of the El Espejo staff feel that MCH1 IS fortunate to have a prlncipal with such out standing scholastic artistic and humanistic interests Mr Irwin 1 s certainly acredlt to our school We dedicate this 1950 51 El Espejo to him .I ' tl Y UI ' ' ' ' like to express our thanks for individual pictures of Howard Timlin, Wesley Taylor, Eural

Since 1927 students havebeen attend- ing high school classes here. One of the la r g e s t school buildings in the Valley, it is also kept modern by frequent remodeling. Our scene of action switches to Bull- dog M e m o r i a 1 Stadium, right, for many s p o r t i n 3 contests and other civic and school functions.
