The newspaper not only forms public opinion but it offers more for a nickel than any other type of periodical. Where else can one find humor, pathos, tragedy, great literature, latest scientific data, latest up-to-the-minute news and a thousand other things in such a small package as the five-cent newspaper ? Yes, the newspaper of America is, to use an old phrase, as American as America itself. The American press has a tremendous duty to perform for the people of our country, and for this reason, we chose to pattern out 1950 El Espejo after the various phases of newspaper production. To the newspaper industry and to newspaper readers, we dedicate this annual. The gentleman on the right is Bobo, the guiding genius and unseen editor of the yearbook. Bobo's wide experience in the field of journalism has been an invaluable asset in assembling and compiling the annual. Bobo is a creation of Art Editor Arthur Guerra and his presence has be-en constantly with the staff since Arthur dreamed him up. He has been both an inspiration and unlimited source of information in editing the El Espejo. The staff has enjoyed its association with Bobo. We hope our readers will.
