Smia Msfvry Many new fhings came fo MHS in fhe fall of I948-a new school bus, new band uniforms, a new principal and feachers, and a new adminisfrafion building. Buf mosf imporfanf of all. a new class enfered 'rhe halls of learning. The class of l952! Af lasf we were in high school! We elecled as presidenf, Virginia Wesfbrook: vice-presidenf, James Benneffi secrefary. Jackie Campbell: freasurer, Nancy Sfovall. And we even won fhe spirif cup-once We supporfed our school af ball games and sock hops. and endured fhe lasf of fhe fough inifiafions. We boosfed one more new fhing af MHS, fhe revival of fhe DANClNG RABBIT. Our sophomore year found us siffing downsfairs and faking our furn making if hard on fhe lower classmen. Bocky Allison was elecfed presidenfp Barbara Barfheld, vice-presidenfg Kafhryn Helms. secrefaryg and Merl Crumbley, freasurer. We REALLY parficipafed in school acfivifies 'rhis year. Sophomores won honors in music, speech, arf. scholasfic, and afhlefic fields. Af fhe end of fhe year we all gof fogefher for fhe Sophomore Parfy in fhe gym. Our junior year puf us info fhe upper brackeffu for sure. Two members, Joyce Gladsfein and Barbara Barfheld, were in The Golden M play. The l Speak for Democracy confesl' had fwo junior confesfanfs, Nancy Sfovall and Sabra Smifh. Nancy placed firsf and Sabra second. Nancy's orafion lafer won firsf in fhe sfafe. Class officers were Jerry Sue Bryanf, presidenfg Kafhryn Brewer, vice-presidenf: Jackie Campbell, secrefary: and Jimmy Edge, freasurer. ln fhe confesf on fhe Consfifufion, firsf place wenf fo Barbara Barfheld, and second fo Nancy Sfovall. The Junior play, The Ghosf of a Chance was a bang-up success. Members of 'rhe casf were: Janacele Jones. Shirley Cornish. Joyce Gladsfein, Sabra Smifh, Earlene Hoffman, Mary Ann Grace, Leroy Wagner, Jimmy Sfrange, Gary Wil- liamson, Harry Craffs, and Bocky Allison. Sfudenf direcfor was Barbara Barfheld and Sfage manager was Nancy Sfovall. Prompfer was Sue Piccolo. Robin Hood days were recalled by fhe fheme of fhe Junior-Senior banquef and prom. Prom Week found us happily cuffing, pasfing and leffering decora- fions for fhe long-awaifed evenf. lf was everyfhing we had expecfed and more. The last week of school made us officially Seniors! And, now as we look forward fo life, we also casf one farewell glance af our high school days. We may be happy, gay, sfudious or busy-buf never so much as we firsf were when we were sfudenfs of MHS. We may walk down fhe halls again-buf never as sfudenfs. Our days af MHS will be buf pleasanf memories.
