Words of knowledge has she taught us, In her solemn halls of truth, And to fields of fame and glory, Proudly marches forth her youth, M. H. S. we'd fain salute thee Though through years we wander far, The affection which we bear thee, Time nor distance ne'er shall mar. MEMORIES OF M. H. S. Down the halls of M. H. S., Voices ring with cheer, As we think of days now past ln the school we hold so dear. Memories of times gone by, We seem to see again, As we sing our Alma Mater, ln our hearts these thoughts remain. Our school on the hill will be a guide To loyalty, friendship, and truth, And we'll keep this memory alive, As we travel past our youth. N ::,, M, gg 4 . . 7 Fred Turner MHYY DYGW Shirley Landes Bill Lackey enior ,Mafory We, the senior class of '49 and '50, our ears still tinged with green from our junior high days, stumbled into the halls of M. H. S. on September 3, l946. Our first important act as students of M. H. S. was to elect Bob Bartheld, president, Frances Briggs, vice-president, Bill Lackey, secretary, and Alma Reta Jordan, treasurer of our class. Some of us were initiated into the Yannush and Wow Wows, and began participating in the sport life of our school. Others began to take their, places by filling the cast and chorus of lolanthe directed by Mr. Robert Landers. Gaining in knowledge, we advanced to the station of Sophomores. We elected Bill Lackey, president, Wanda Holly, vice-president, Bette Hefley, secretary, and Elisabeth Green, treasurer, to guide us through the year. Again we showed school spirit by taking a very active part in the production of the Mikado, directed by Mr. Landers. This spirit must have been evi- dent, because we won the spirit cup enough times to get our names on it leven though it was spelled wrongl. , As jaunty Juniors, we began to show our real worth. Shirley Landes, president, Fred Turner, vice-president, Bette Hefley, secretary, and Marie Rager, treasurer, were elected as our class officers. We began a sale of school stationery to finance the prom. As a group we were pretty popular and one of our own favorites, Dawn Livingston, was elected Football Queen. We took our share of places in the cast and chorus of Gypsy Troubadour, directed by Mr. Harold Hedges. We ended this year by attending a very beautiful and successful banquet and prom. Now we are Seniors! That long awaited year has come and l think we are both surprised and regretful that the years have passed so swiftly. As our leaders for this last year, we chose Fred Turner, president, Mary Drew, vice-pesident, Shirley Landes, secretary, and Bill Lackey, treasurer. Deloria Hall was elected Football Queen. As the end of the year draws near, we look forward to our senior activities when we can really let go and forget our dignity and sophistication, I0 1 its fi '33 n 'D s N vi HS l li rl Xml' 1-mr Q. J oan Nelms Dr. Lewis Girard is being considered for an important position on the staff of the Haviland Memorial Hospital. While Girard is in the city with Haviland, his wife invites his two rivals for the position to dinner. These two used to be suitors of the wife, and they cordially detest each other. Each impersonates a woman to get rid of the other. Meanwhile, due to take tele- grams, Lewis brings Haviland home. The cast overcomes the rising complica- tions to a happy ending for all. A humorous play, good acting, and excellent direction combined to make a success of the production. 48 Wafionaf jorendic eague Jimmy Kirkland, Homer Brown, Jerry Dickman, Leland Webb, Loren McCurtain.
