LEFT TO RICHT: Charles Price, Treasurer, Shirley Sims, Vice-President, Paul Earnhart, President, Phoebe Reed, Secretary. eniorfi lt was a green group of Freshmen, indeed, that entered M. H. S, in September, l945. We encoun- tered the same difficulties that all Freshmen encoun- ter: walking up the wrong stairs and learning the school songs and yells. We elected Jim Shinaberger and Comella Boyd to head our class. Crimson and gold were chosen class colors. Our social activities were highlighted by the Freshman class party. We became Sophomores after some of the green had rubbed off. Our executives were Sammy Grimes and Bill Walker, The Sophomore Spirit Club was founded and printed the Stampede to promote class spirit. Baseball was offered for the first time in M, H. S.'s athletic history. September, 47, found us sophisticated Juniors with Hal Savage president and Kenneth Hunter vice- president. The Music Department presented The Mikado that year. Our Junior-Senior banquet proved to be a gala affair and we realized, since we were saying goodby to the Seniors, that we would be the big-shots around M. H. S. the next year. Papa ls All was a big hit with an almost all Junior cast. When we started to school in 1936, our Senior year seemed so far away, but at last we have reached that time when we can walk down the halls with heads held high, knowing that the other classmen must look up to us. To lead our class this year, we elected Paul Earnhart president and Shirley Sims vice- president. We toured the Naval Ammunition Depot on invitation from the Navy. Sixteen in August was the first play of the year, The Juniors entertained us royally at the traditional Junior-Senior banquet which was held amid a color scheme of crimson and gold, our class colors, With spring graduation, McAlester High School days have become history for the one-hundred and forty-one Seniors of l949.
