Prxor to the enactment of the famous Danclng Rabblt Treaty whlch was made by the Federal Government on September I5 I83O the Choctaw lndlans reslded ln M1SS1SSlppI ln the Dancmg Rabblt Treatv the Umted States government under the personal supervlslon of the Presldent granted a portlon of the land west of the Mlsslsslppl Rlver to the Choctaw and Creek lndrans 'to them and thelr descendants to mure to them whlle they shall CXlSt as a natlon and lrve on lt When Mr Tyler assumed the dutles of Presxdent he fulhlled the condltlons of thls treaty by lssulng a patent to the Choctaw Natron on March 23 1842 whrch gave them possesslon of that part of Clclahoma known as the Choctaw Natlon The tltle to all land w1th1n the llmlts of the Choctaw N5t1OH IS based upon thls Danclng Rabblt Treaty hence the tltle to the land upon whlch our magnlflcent Hlgh School bulldmg stands rests upon the D3HClHg Rabblt Treaty and for thls reason we have seen fit to glve the name Danc1ng Rabblt' to our Annual ! 9 Y ' .
