History In 1950, ve, the Seniore of 1954, boarded our special plane for four year oouree in aviation sohool. Ve were the new dace of Green Freshmen that appear each September at the training center, McAfee High School. Each member of our claee was filled with energy , ambition, and the determination not to wash out , but to end the course wearing the gold bars of a pilot. At the beginning of our training period we elected the following officerei President - William Condor, Vice-President - - Elizabeth Smith, Treasurer - Dalton Hendren» Secretary - Mable Slme Reporter - Nina HcCoun Dalton Hurst McCoun left our class during the year which closed with an excursion flight to Joyland Park. Mr. Bruce Champion was our sponsor during this first training period. In the fall of 1951, twenty-eight climbed aboard the plane for the second P®J”d ° training. Ve were determined to ignore the title, Silly Sophomores . .♦u ♦v.°UJ upperoiassmen bestowed upon us. Ve continued our flight training with the following offioers: President- Kenneth Roney, Vice-President -William Conder, Secretary,-Mary Joyce Dean, Treasurer - Dalton Hendren. Ve regretted the loss of Agnes Vickersham, Bobby Sheperson, and Elizabeth Smith, but we welcomed Bessie Cooper and Durr Graham. Our Sophomore year oloeed with a Per3T Park LoulBTHle Mr. A. T. Hensley was our training orilcer during this second period . „Vhen w® became Jolly JUniors our class became smaller through the lose tJnem?er8’ waT® Btrlven to keep in the air without them. Ve were happy to welcome Bobby Sheperson who rejoined us in training. Mary Joyce Dean and Robinson have served as able cheer-leaders. This year all the F. F. A. i ? Seniors. Eugene Taylor won the F. F. A. district public speaking contest last year. Other members of the class have the Beta Club1°erB °f thC Y-Teen8 Club the Student Council, The Glee Club and th. r e°Ur yfarf ,ln aTiation school have been difficult but happy years. As °“r training draws near, we anticipate with much pleasure the events before usj our Senior Play, Class Night, Baccalaureate, and Commencement.
