U s KHISTTQLZQL Q wfmps?gSKLll , As a character in a play ponders to review the important steps to euc- cess, we the class of nl95ln pause to reflect the historical horizon of our high school years. Everyday that we linger brings a growing appreciation of our many friends and the close relation we have had with all our leaders Now as we are about to leave this stage, we realize that we have a better perspective for our lives in the complicated social order in which we are to live. In the fall of 1947, twenty, happy, enthusiastic, pondering Freshmen enrolled in McAfee High School. Eight long years of hard work and dream- ing burst forth lnto reality as we were recognized by our fellow upper- classmen. Mr. Bruce Champion was our homeroom teacher. We found ourselves as active members in the Glee Club, Basketball Squad, Y-Teens, and F.F.A. We were thrilled when Jane Watts became nM1ss McAfee' for the year. We finished our Freshmen year by taking a trip to Fountain Ferry Park. That same fall, twenty-four Hgreenu Freshmen enrolled at Fairview. We were glad to welcome Miss Irene Dickerson and Mr. J. W. Stevens as our teachers. A very interesting year ended by the Freshmen taking a trip to Mammoth Cave. Due to the fact that we had three months of freedom, we entered our sophomore year with a greater determination to increase our knowledge. Mary Jo Bishop and Mary Alma Watson had moved away from our group. Emily Driskell became a farmer's wife. We still retained eighteen in number as Bobble Poulter, Barbara Beasley, Helen Price, Beatrice Lawson, and Bob Reynolds Joined our class. At mid-semester Helen Ruth Niceley came to us from Perryville. Under the leadership of Miss Mellie Matherly, principal, Mr. Bruce Champion, Mr. Stuart Guance, and Miss Neva Woods as teachers, we completed a very successful year. We received two honors. Jane Watts was elected high school queen again, and Emma Conder won outstanding recogni- tion in 4-H Club work. This year was full of entertalnment and fun, such as weiner roasts, giving parties, and preparing for our week-end trip to Mammoth Cave. In September of '49, six 'Jollyu Juniors from Fairview boosted the McAfee enrollment. Marvin Ward from Fairview quit school and Kenny Bob Horn came from Harrodsburgfjoined us. This year was bubbling over with ex- citement. Our plays HA Pair of Country K1ds', and HNo Backseat for Grand- man were entertaining. We were thrilled to know that Betty Yeast from our room got the most votes for high school queen. Our Junior year came to an end by taking the Seniors to Butler State Park, Carrollton, Kentucky. Mrs. Stewart Guance was our homeroom sponsor for this year. Finally, we reached our goal HD1gn1f1ed Senlorsn. The year has been very successful under the leadership of our principal, Mr. William D. Pile. We look upon the production of our play nThe Daffy Dlllsn as one of the best we have done. Of course there was much fun and hard work getting out our annual, preparing for commencement, and giving class night. Now that the year has ended, we shall always look back to this year of our lives as one of the happiest and most successful.
