SENIOR CLASS HISTORY It was on September 9, 1946, that 16 green freshmen entered McAfee High School. We had all dreamed of the day when we would step into the classroom and be recognized as high school students. We welcomed Mr. H. H. Jones as our new principal and Mr. J. L. Rynerson as our homeroom teacher. We enjoyed many things that year including the Negro Minstrel which we gave along with the sophomores for the school carnival. We finished our freshmen year by taking a trip to Frankfort and Joyland Park, accompanied by Mr. Jones. After three months vacation, we the sophomores re-entered school. We were ten in number but after a few months were sorry to lose Bill Carey. We were very proud of our class since most of our boys made the basketball team and Bonnie Anderson was elected cheerleader. We finished this year by Mr. and Mrs. Gaunce taking the Sopho- more girls to Natural Bridge. The boys went to Fountaine Ferry Park with the Freshmen. Under the leadership of Miss Mellie Matherly, Principal, Mr. Gaunce, home room teacher, Miss Neva Woods and Mr, Bruce Champ- ion we had a very successful year. On September 6, 1946 sixteen green Freshmen enrolled at Fair- view. That year was just about as thrilling as any freshman year could be. We were glad to welcome Rev. H. T. Brown, Miss Irene Dickerson, Miss Mabel Stratton and Mrs. B. V. Stevens as our teachers. The last semester we welcomed Mary Ann Steele from McAfee and Russell Peavler from Cornishville. We lost Viola Warner, who went to Cornishville. This year was ended by having a picnic.
