Grease, presented by the Juniors, was truly an exciting and thrill- ing play. The cast worked very hard together with their sponsors Mr. Staggs, Mr. Beckner, and Mrs. Anthony to make the play a suc- cess. Ron Brown received the award for best actor and Terri Blankenship received the award for best actress. On January 18, 1983 the Sophomore class presented The Mouse That Roared. They had worked vigorously every day after school for two months and the hard work was definitely worth it. The spon- sors were Mr. Beckner, Mrs. Anchors, and Mr. Davis. Both plays were respectively giant steps forward for Fine Arts at McAdory. 18 Sophomore Play and the mouse is roaring 19 new york, new york - the first contestant stepped onto the lighted runway. Some of the spotlight events were: Tom- my Richard Simmons Holmes leading the office staff plumps in exercises; Stan Chaney and Vanessa Carter ' s duet; Ralph Cook ' s saxaphone solo; Mary An- chor ' s abstract rendition of Shirley Tem- ple; the MHS barbershop quartet; and a number of solo performances by such artists as Betty Atchison, James Dougla . Myra Tarver, Danny Staggs, and Sam Staggs. Of course, most acts were done in jest although the proceeds went to the faculty impathy fund, and it was difficult to determine whether the student au- dience or faculty performers had the most fun. 35 Christmas Festive doors brighten school Pan ,,f il„- usual rutafah celebration at McAdory has always been the Christmas door decorations sponsored by the Annual- Staff. The doors are judged in the last week before the holiday break by impartial faculty members. Usually the judges favor the more traditionally styled doors, but this year as a whole the] selected doors with newer, more modern designs. The uinn.rs were Mr. Ifiae ' l homeroom, whose Lights of Christmas took first place, Mr. Holmes homeroom ' s Merry Christmas from 10- 05 took second place, Mrs. Brunner ' s homeroom ' s Time of Joy door took third place, and Mrs. Jackson ' s homeroom took fourth place with the Sound of Christmas. The tie for fifth place was jointly held by Ms. Carter ' s, Mrs. Anchor ' s, and Mr. Chaney ' s homeroom. Ms. Peyton ' s homeroom holds the title of the most unique door in the school. Some of the reasons for this successful season were sound fundamentals, good pitching and smart base-running, but the main reason was overa team support. The team had one of the largest crowd followings in the County. The 83 team members were Seniors: Daniel Hubbard (leadership trophy), Rex Todd (most valuable player), Doug Jolly, Tracy Crews, Phillip Burnett, Doug Vining, Wayne Wright, 42 Varsity Baseball Jeff Lipscomp, Greg Thomas, Keith Rogers, and Jerry Wayne Shepard. Two Juniors and two sophomores, Jody Coggins, LaBron Carroll, Keith Langston and Frankie King, will return to lead the jackets ' 84 attempt at 3 straight 3A Championships; and certainly foes like John Carroll who fell 12-1 to the Jackets will have their minds set on upset. 43 B -Tea m and Jr. High Baseball take the bases in ' 83 - The Varsity Baseball B-Team turned in a season to be remembered.
