It is to a successful and cherished artist that we, the members of the senior class, dedicate this MAZONITOR. She has blended together knowledge, understanding, wit, humor, and skill to retouch our lives. Because she has been a patient artist, we have experienced beauty where before we could see none. Our lives have been richer because she took the time to paint with care. Each year a freshman is approached by the yearbook adviser and asked if he wishes to be the Representative on the yearbook staff. For the next two years, he will be asked the same question. The Junior Editor still has the priv- ilege of choice. The editor, working with the adviser, selects the working staff which is pictured on these pages. The yearbook is financed by the work of the entire staff through subscriptions, advertising, and page sponsorships by classes and organizations. This year the Mazonitor will cost more than 351040 or about 35.75 per book. Deadlines that must be met are February l, April 1, and June 10. From summer planning on the dummy to the autograph party the following August---the work goes on. Typists: J. Phillips, J. Swearingin, K. Henderson, C. Kanne, D. Cromwell, I. Small. Gerald Hill Place ----- Living Room of Pringle Home Time ----- A summer day Penny Pringle is attempting to win the starring role, Dimity West, in the movie, Stars in Her Hair. With the aid of Greg's scheming, Kerry impersonates Harrison Day to trick her out of the part. Sally, with the help of her pub- licity agent, Norman Porter, is also trying to win the part. Lydia and Caleb are two too-busy parents who offer no in- terest in Penny's efforts. Besides Penny's problems there is a brother, Mark, who wants to buy a farm, but hasn't the money, a grandmother who must raise her grandchildren , and a sister, Mavis, who is working very hard at a radio station, but getting nowhere. Sally and Mark fall in love, Sally forgets her movie plans, and Mark acquires the chicken farm as a result of his father's new interest in him. Gram not only awakens Caleb, but also Lydia, to the responsibilities of being parents. Penny decides she must stay home to be near Kerry, and the real Harrison Day finds his ideal Dimity West---Mavis. THE FEED BAG - Mazon DR. CONNORS - Morris 23 The V.I, P. Our lass sponsor, Mr. Clarke led us through our two main class projects, magazine sales and freshman sock hop. Our freshman fficers were: Ronald Olson, presidentg Cheryl Kanne, vice presidentg Judith Swearingin, secretaryg Jackie Finch, treasurerg hd Student Council members Shelly Eagle and Dennis Cleek. Judith Small represented our class at the Corn Festival as at- endant to the queen. This concluded our freshman year. Scared, but a bit more secure, we entered our sophomore year. We had lost eight of our fellow classmates, but three new udents stepped into their places, Patricia Johnson, Elizabeth Peverly, and Gerald Hill. Mr. Peverly, who had just joined e staff, and Mr. Verhaegle were our sophomore sponsors. Our class officers were: Ronald Olson, president, Dennis Cleek, ice presidentg Carol Sereno, secretaryg Judith Small, treasurerg Carol Barr, reporterg Janice Phillips and Marshall Both, Stu- -ent Council. This year Janice Phillips took the honor of being attendant to the queen. Our class treasury was at last begin- ing to grow through various money making projects. Next we took the step to upper classmen. By no means were we scared and shaky this year. We would have a big year head of us, but we felt sure we would have no trouble making it through to our senior year. Eight students left us this year, nd Patricia Harrington joined our class. We elected our officers and were off for a year of fun and success. Our officers vere: Carol Sereno, presidentg Marshall Both, vice presidentg Jackie Finch, secretaryg Kay Henderson, treasurergCarol Barr, 'storiang Judith Small and James Kraft, Student Council. Marsha Herman received the honor of being attendant to the queen. ur junior sponsors were Mr. Beebe, another new member to the staff, and Miss Gehrke. Our first duty as juniors was to lect our class rings to wear in honor of membership in our school. Next was our junior play The Groom Said No! under the irection of Mr. Kinman. It was a great success and a great experience for those who participated. We now had to think of ome money means. We decided to sell school pens and candy. The biggest duty of the year was now upon us, preparation f the Junior- Senior Reception, Ebb Tide. Many of us also took part in the production of Oklahoma. , At last, we were Seniors, we may have been the smallest class, 335 but you know what they say about small packages. four classmates left us and Dianne Bannon joined us, and our good friend Albert Holmes returned to finish his senior year. Our lass officers were: James Kraft, presidentg Carol Barr, vice president: Jackie Finch, secretaryg Cheryl Kanne, treasurerg arsha Herman, historiang Patricia Johnson, reporter, Janice Phillips, William Warning, William Coughlin, Student Council. nce again Janice Phillips had the honor of representing the class and school at the Corn Festival, but this time as Queen of VK. Our senior sponsors were: Mr. Reed, Miss Mitchell, and Mr. Mennemeier, Our biggest school year was now in full ingg we worked hard at car washes, paper drives, magazine sales, coat checks, silent auctions, bake sales and many other oney making projects. Our senior play., The Daffydills, again directed by Mr. Kinman, was well attended and brought sat- faction to our treasury box as well as many pleasant memories. We selected our trip destination, New Orleansg our prom eme, Beneath the Southern Starsg class motto, Conduct and Courage lead to honorg class flower, the red roseg and class olors, mint green and white. We were all quite excited when our senior pictures finally arrived. We again participated in e production of another musical, South Pacific. Now we say good bye to MVK, and hello to a new way of life. 5-A-M'5 SNACK BAR, Coal Ci'CY ST YLINE AWNINGS, Fontana., Wisconsin . And your cup of kindnes filled . CLASS POEM --by Judi Small Days are few till we 'll be all through Our friends and pals, we all miss them--too true. Our high school, our teachers, this friendship ne'er will cease Our buddies, our classmates, our memories all remain, at least. Carol Barr should be a good start We all know she sure does her part She 's got pretty blonde hair--quite a doll, And for her, the guys really fall. Now Don Clavey is everyone's friend, When you need a buddy--on him depend, He 's ready and willing--with a helping hand, A real sweet girl someday he'll land. I've often wondered what Don McCormack would be, He'll probably own his own bank-- just wait and see. In school he knows all there is, Everyone thinks, he's a whiz. Well, here 's Jackie Finch, nurse she'll be She will take your temperature to the exact degree, In her uniform she'll be clad in white, For all the young interns, she'll be quite a sight. Then there's the student, his name is Jim Kraft, Get him started, and you 'll laugh and laugh. In the fall, he'll be off to Cornell Here's a guy, who 's downright swell. Bill Coughlin is one that is every so tall, When he's around, we all have a ball, You mention dancing and he 'll give you a twirl, Bet he could get almost any girl. Bill Warning, our basketball star, In this sport, he's sure gone far, But in bookkeeping, like all the rest, He 's trying to pass Mrs. Bryant's tests. Kay Henderson is really quite a lass When it comes to fun, she heads the class, One thing she's got is sweet personality And bubbling over with rascality. Here's Mr. Holmes, his first name is A1 He 's always got his eye on a gal. He can be studious and oh--so quiet But he can also raise quite a riot. Here's Marsha Herman with her pretty brown hair. With sound advice, she's always there. A fine little housewife soon she'll make, She'll leave us then, and our .hearts will break. Dianne Bannon seems quiet and shy, Whenever you see her, she 'll always say HI. She's little and pretty and full of pep. You'l1 always find her neat and well kept. 1 John Rainsburg seems always to be tardy. He gets away with this, 'cause he 's a smarty. Have all of you people and John met? Oops! look around, is he here yet? Now our friend Mickey Irvin is far from quiet, In fact, with him, you will have a riot, He 's quite a hot rod driver, this teen, And Ihear that his car is real keen. Well, here 's Carol Sereno, so petite and neat, She's always smiling and oh, so sweet, She also won the D.A.R. In this, she 'll surely go far. Now we come down to Jackie Crase, Always there at the right time and place She 's always willing to give a helping hand. She 's loyal as-can-be to the entire band. Here we have Miss Cheri Kanne, She's cute, smart, and quite zanieg On Monday morning she fills us in About the weekend and where she's been. Now Shelly Eagle we must remember, For in this great class, she's a grand member Not pulling jokes, but laughing with the crowd Makes her like a mouse--quiet, not loud. John Lefton is sure a real ace, He 's always there with a bright smiling face, As a friend he 's really on the top, We all know him as the cream of the crop. Doug Nelson is not a very studious guy, But he always does his part, you can't deny. Always in adventure, always in wonder, What will happen to him--we wonder. From Patti Johnson we all get a whirl. Pretty and nice, she's a mighty sweet girl. A secretary she wants to be, I'll bet her boss wants her to sit on his knee. Alan Burkhart can be heard all around, By the laughing roar, you'd think he was a clown Alan can laugh at anyone 's joke or rhyme, All you have to do is give him the time. JEWELERS' ASSOCIATION, Morris . . . Should old acquaintance be forgot . . . Dianna Cromwell 's beauty is no surprise With contacts she has sparkling eyes: These eyes do sparkle, these eyes do shine, Around the little ones she 's always kind. Judy Swearingin, Swervie, as she is named, Those big brown eyes can never be tamed. To our days she has added fun, Her smile will give you the warmth of the sun. Mrs. Nancy lsham, cute and sweet And her grand husband she did meet. For when he popped the question, she said yes And for their happiness the preacher did bless. Good-looking Ron Olson has a sharp car And as a mechanic, he's really above par. Though he 's a student of equation and sign, The wheel of a car you 'll find him behind. 1 In Chuck Stitt's classes, he's really a whiz, When you see his blond head, you know whose it is. This fall he 's going on to school To learn all he cang he 's nobody's fool. Now here's a girl that's lots of fun, Like our Diane Dedo there 's only one, I Who can laugh all the time and be a hit, She is a riot you must admit. Janice Phillips is a barrel of fun If you need a buddy, she 's the one, A mischievous imp, smiles galore, When she 's around nothing 's a bore. Frank Fransisco is quite the guy, He 's big and husky, but a little shy, When it comes to wrestling, he'll win the match, He 'll make some little girl a real good catch. .Tim Johnson now is next in line, A handsome lad, he 's ever so fine, Everyone knows he 's sharp as a tack ,V When it comes to farming, he 's got quite a knack Denny Cleek, the favorite of all, Girls are with him in class, gym, and hall. Watch out, girls, he's sure got a line, Plus a car that makes him big time. Judie Small has pretty brown hair, And to her appearance she takes good care. Ready with a smile and compliments to pay, She 's busy making friends throughout the day. Now that we have spent four years here, Our buddies, our high school will always be dear. Oh, the days when we all had fun, They'l1 be just dreams when we are all done. John Esgar, we know he's not very tall. But when he's around we are sure to have a ball. In his classes he's always talking, To the office he 'll soon be walking. CLA SS PROPI-IECY June 15, 1975 Cheryl Kanne Hello! This is Cheryl Kanne, and I have just arrived home after another one .of my. world tours as a traveling secretary for he L.M. B. Secretarial Service, Inc. This tour was definitely the most interesting of all because Ihappened to find a few of y former classmates of the Great Class of 1963. My tour started in Chicago, where I found Dennis Cleek, current president of the Bachelor's Club, Chicago Branch. I-le is ery busy there, and he is having a good time with his new '75 Pontiac. I also ran into two more classmates, Diane Dedo and iane Bannon. They are partners in a company of song writers. Diane Dedo's latest hit is My Guy and Diane Bannon's is, When He Works Six Nights A Week. My next stop was Iowa City, where Jackie Finch is a Professor of Nursing. She is very happy with her work as a teacher of 'nedicine. In the same town, I found Carol Ann Sereno who has replaced Ann Lander's popular column with one even better. She calls it, Carol 's Aids for Letter Writers. She is now a top-notch journalist. The next point of landing was Dallas, Texas, where I was glad to see John Lefty Lefton and Jimmy James Johnson who, I was not too surprised to find, are professional cowpunchers. Even though they are bachelors now, I doubt very much if they emain that way. Texas is a large state with a huge population, the majority being females. Next, Iarrived at Kansas City, WALKER TRUCKING, Mazon LELA'S BEAUTY SHOP, Mazon 47 I . . . AND NEVER BROUGHT TO MIND . . . Kansas, home of John Esgar, first chemist to discover what makes flubber bounce. They say he is very successful in Kansi City. My plane landed in Reno, Nevada next. I found Bill Speed Coughlin in a likely place, Coughlin's Cough-It-Up-oi Get-Out- Gambling Saloon. They say he just made his 17th million. I finally arrived in San Francisco, California, and Iwe: straight to visit Marsha Herman. She is very busy with her wardrobe designing business. She is a neighbor to Janice Phillip who is still waiting for that Commander-In-Chief William Warning of the Marine Corps. We all knew he would go far becau: of his enthusiasm as a recruit. Janice has opened a Wood Shop there, and her company slogan is, Whittle Away the Ho While You Wait. I rented a car and drove to Los Angeles where Ihappened upon Shelly Eagle, designer of the ads for t miraculous product, Vim -- How to stay thin on 'Vims ' is her motto. I flew to Russia where everyone is talking about D McCormack, zany mathematician who insists division by zero is possible. I guess things got too slow for him back in t States, Don was always one for excitement. I missed Chuck Stitt, Don's companion. Iheard that he had just won the Na tional Race in his Rocketmobileg he makes non-stop trips to the Moon daily, too. Ilanded in Paris next, and found Carl Candy Barr, dancer, entertainer. I always knew she would go far with that personality and smile. Iarrived in Madri: Spain, just in time for the bull fights. I just had to see Kay Henderson do her stuff. Yes, she has taken up fighting bulls, bi then, I figured sooner or later she would get tired of horses and turn to something else. England was my next stop, and Londn is the home of Ron Olson, who always believed England was for the very English. Another resident of London is Alan Burl hart who has just invented a new type of wheel--square--making it difficult for Alan Jr. to squeal those tires Cas Alan Sr. df in his youthj. In Greenland I found Judy Swearingin, and her husband who is a Professor of Geology. Now he xis studying ict and she is helping him. I was going to say hello, but they were on a field trip when I arrived. I landed in Washington, D. C next and was not surprised to find Patti Johnson, Executive Secretary to the President. Now she types a world record of 3,0i words a minute with only 4, O00 errors. John Rainsburg lives there, too, and he has recently written another best-seller bool It is called, Why I Got Fired and it follows his other great, How To Get More Time Off. Isaw Don Clavey in Bosto where he has recently opened a school on Motion Study. He says his work is very interesting, and Iagree that it must bi Next, I arrived at Annapolis, Maryland, Naval Academy, and I was surprised to see that Jackie Crase is the first woman st dent there. Next Ihappened upon Doug Nelson and Mick Irvin who have started a new society of Fresh Air Mechanics. Th are living in the woods of Maine--in a tent--specializing in jalopy mechanics. I found Judie Small in Iowa, and she is ve: happy, having been selected as the best-dressed woman of 1975. She says that her hair styles added to her clothing to hei win the honors. Dianna Cromwell has opened a day nursery for child care in the same place. Her specialty is in 20-30 yet old children. Her latest book is entitled, WHEN MOMMY'S AWAY, BABY WILL MISBEHAVE. Frank Francisco is in Mil waukee, Wisconsin. He has taken up modeling on the side, and you will see him in all the magazines as. the man with tli hat. He says his work has its advantages, too--undoubtedly being the introduction of many female models. My last st before home was Canada. Jim Kraft fthe modern-day Paul Bunyonj lives there. He set a world record for wood choppin getting a whole tree down in one day. He says the approach is the most important thing. Albert Holmes is living in Northe: Canada. He is very successful there--his work is teaching the French, Spanish. Now that I am home in Mazon, I see that things haven't changed so much, Nancy Isham was busy with her spring hou, cleaning. She has just received the honor of Good Housekeeper of the Year, presented by Better Homes and Gardens Magg gin-eg I have to sign off now, and get some rest. I leave tomorrow on the most exciting tour scheduled. Iam to visit ti planets and the moon for a secretarial space trip. See you in another 15 years. fThe will, prophecy, poem, and history were prepared by the Seniors to be read at the Junior Reception to the Seniors 48 ULIVI'S, Coal City STRAIGHTWAY DAIRY, Morris F . . . sH0ULD OLD ACQUAINTANCE BE FORGOT . . .
