In January of 1964 the University of Michigan Bureau of School Services made a survey which showed that the Mayville School District needed additional classrooms, library space, science facilities, and a new gym- nasium. As a result of this study the Board of Education appointed a local Citizen's Planning Committee, in January of 1966. The Architect William Prine was engaged by the Board of Education to work with this committee. The reorganization of Tuscola County Schools in May of 1966 further showed the need for additional school facilities. A Bonding Election was successful in September 1966 for 1.9 million dollars to build and equip a new senior high school. Bonds were sold and bids were taken with the ground breaking taking place in August of 1967. After several delays due to strikes and weather the school was finally occupied in April of 1969. The official dedication ceremonies were held in May 1969. The 1970 Yearbook is dedicated to the new Senior High School. This is the first complete year we have had in it.
