[trough hjea Sfuut o'i t t£e Senuyt @1044 f ?57 ItOufoitU Setool TfoufotUe THlc t ut T edCctUtoK The class of 1957 dedicates this yearbook to Mr. David Eldredge, our sponsor, in grateful acknowledgement of his years of faithful service to our school. We hope that he may continue teaching in the Mayville High School for many years to come. 2 'll THeMuyuOAtt This lad has gone a walking, In God's great meadow land, He's gone to be with angels, And hold a great man's hand. Yes, I guess the Lord was lonesome For a lad like this one day: So, he called him from life's toils To collect his well-earned pay. Though he left us so abruptly His memory lingers still For no one in this land of ours Maurice's place could fill. ScluUtC MVlcC STANDING Left to Right: F. Moss, D. Sugden, A. Gohs. SEATED: A. Wells. cdtonzf We began our ninth grade year in 53 as green freshmen. Having Mr. David Eldredge as our sponsor. There were 63 of us. That year was quite a year. We faced quite a few important events. First of all there was our auction then the initiation. But all in all we faced it bravely. We sold magazines to make money for our class. That year we got the highest amount from our magazines than any other class. Our officers were President, Bill Harmon, Vice Pres. Sharon Coxe, Secretary, Lois Ford, and Treasurer, Joan Prystajko, and our Student Council Rep. was James Long. We came back as sophomores and there were 56 of us. We were all very well acquainted so we prepared to give the sophomores their sentences. We prepared for the auction and Initiation. Our officers were President, Ken Frenzel, Vice Pres. G. Warmbier, Secretary, Hazel TerBush, and Treasurer, Joan Prystajko. As Juniors we sold magazines and put on the annual Jr. Sr. Prom and Banquet. We also had our Junior Play. At last we are seniors waiting impatiently for our Commencement to come. 11 PATTY AUMACK She's true to one. (One at a time) BYRON BARRY School will keep whether I'm there or not. Stratton. Mayville's 1956 football season was not too successful as far as league standings were concerned. But the season was successful, by the fact that the Wildcats won their first football game since 1953, winning their Homecoming game from Ubly, 26-12, on the night of November 2, in a well played and high spirited contest. This years team was a young ball club and lacked much needed experience but with the entire team returning next year with the exception of three players, Duane Robin- son, Bob Robison, and Don Lotter. Chuck Ohmer one of die teams trainers will also be graduating. Chuck was always around to care for the team's aches and pains. At a banquet given by the Mayville Rotary Club as seasons end, the Most Valuable ball player the Most Improved ball players were named as voted by their team- mates. Chuck Fowler was named most valuable and also was 16th top scorer in the league. Bob Prystajko was voted Most Improved ball player, offensively, and Lyn Wood TerBush was voted Most lnproved, defensively. Dallas Bellamy, the teams top point maker, achieved the rating of 10th top scorer in the league. The Junior Varsity fared somewhat better than the Varsity in taking three out of four games, winning from the J.V.'s from Millington, Fairgrove, and North Branch, while losing to Kingston. Mayville is now fielding a Junior High Football Team and in its sole game this season, lost to a powerful Millington outfit. The Junior High Cats are hopeful for more prosperous seasons in the future due to the fact they will be using their new recently purchased uniforms next year. LEFT to RIGHT: B. Blackmore, B. How nice! I just had to write and tell you of our vacation. As you know we have been teaching at Mayville ever since we graduated. Here is an account of our tour to see all of our old class-mates. We'll start at Detroit, where the Wright's have their farm near the airport. Bev and Jack have a large dairy herd. And, as we motored past Michigan State College we thought of Linda Bower man Brown who is secretary to Mr. David Eldrcdge, head band director. All over Michigan we saw posters campaigning tor Bob Stevens, candidate for Governor on the Prohibition Ticket. In Indiana we visited Charles Ohmer, head coach at Notre Dame. . It was quite a Jog all the way to dry Arizona, but a relief to taste Eleanor's famous Sebert's Sherbet, at her own dairy bar. OurfiBtsUy in California was Fort Pendleton where Bette (Goodell) Ihrke is secretary to the general, and her hubby DeForrest is Master Sgt. Next-HOLLYWOOD.. And lunch at Ciro s with actress Arlene Wah, who you will remember as Wasielewski. She told us of her engagement to her movie partner Roberto Robisomm. ou remember Bob Robison don't you? . _ _ , We left California that afternoon for Dallas to the magnificent homes of the Edward McLane's and the Dean Bell's, nee Sharon Bnstol and Sandy Terikish respectively. Their husbands are in the oil business together. Did you hear that Jim Long is the executive of the Kroger chain? He married the bosses' daughter, you know. We were traveling through Georgia, to Florida and saw a van labeled Wagner. It must have been one of the chain that Hazel_(TerBush)Wagner and Jim own. Down in Tampa we stopped at the Bob S hoi es' Citrus Farm. He told us as a hobby he wrestles alligators. He gets his alligators from Joe Lfevis, Dorothy Well- er's husband. She is teaching the Seminoles near her home. . ._________ . Byron Barry is still stationed in Maryland. He's making the Navy his career, and is still Seaman 1st Class. He told us that Dick Shaver, Danny Ignotov, a Charles Lay all joined the Foreign Legion and are now in Africa. The reason they give for joining is their unretumed love for that noted society play girl Joan PlVlf«eenu most of our classmates settled in New York. Helen Wright is editor of the New York Herald, and her sports photographer BobDurkee. That night we went to the Copa Cabana where the new singing sensation the Philly Sisters were a smash. We were surprised to see that it was Phyllis Marlow and Phyllis Friday. Phyl Friday's husband Dallas Bellamy is their business manager. . ,, c, „ . . We wanted to see Linda Rogers so we went to her apartment in Grenwich. She showed us her latest art exhibit while we discussed old times. She told us she had received a letter from Pat Gorde (nee Aumack) that John had just gotten a job with a famous ballet school as the head instructor. Pat is designing the show's costumes. Linda was elated that Marg Harmon who married Ron Colling, made a fortune inventing a new kind of bolt for supporting steel girders. Ron finds them very helpful in his construction work. Our next stop was New Jersey, to the Maiers-Howay Bump Shop, where Karon and Bill wereJust finish- ing a fender on Bill Harmon's Jaguar. It seems Nancy Morrison was driving her Caddie too fast, and hit him. It was fortunate that her seven childred weren hurt. She married the head of R. G. Dunn Co., you know. . _ .. . . . , . . While in Maine,we stayed at the Last Chance, resort hotel of Kathleen (Raymond) Weller. She said that Marvin Curell wasn't hving too far away and is doing a great job at his alma mater, Hartford, as its public relations man. When Kathleen told us of Jerry Warmbier's we dashed back to New York just in time for his fall fashion show. His fashions are sold under his Wambi label. Judy Nowland (she never did get married) is his head model. He told us her John Powers training makes her in dispensi bit . , , , . .. __.. . We started back home by way of Kentucky and while passing through Covington, we met Dalton Colling's touting comb and tissue paper band, trying to raise funds to repave the Appian Way. He said Gordon Fox and Don Lotter are now missionaries in the back woods of Kentucky. , . Lois Ford and Sharon Coxe are nurses at the Pontiac Home, and two of their patients are Duane Robinson and Bill Seddon. Remember those four were al- ways together in high school too. , , ... , ,. . _ _ We bought a paper before we headed home and read that Mr. and Mis. Max Lee Bradford of Pontiac, just celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. But you remember her as Bev Sanford. _____s,__ Back home we reported to our superintendent Mrs. Alton Borck, or Frances Torrey as we all remember her. She told us of the remarriage of one of her s aff- And so to our home and to take off our shoes and relax, count our memories and realize that the Class of '57 hasn't lost its old get up and go! 47 Affectionately yours, Your Class-Mate 'Ti cCC cutd 7e4tOf te tt We the SENIOR CLASS OF 1957, do hereby make and declare this our last will and testament.
