During 1954 Barbara was elected secretary of the county 4-H Club. She placed fifth at the county demonstration contest. She was selected as one of the top twelve girls to represent Garvin County at 4-H Round-Up in Stillwater. She placed in the blue ribbon group at Stillwater. Barbara placed third on her dress in the county fair. She attended state fair school in Oklahoma City as a result of placing in the top five in the county judging contest. She placed sixth in the state clothing contest. As a result of her work in 1954 she was awarded a leadership award and she became a key member. BARBARA PHARAOH During 1954 Patricia had the Grand Champion girls demonstration which was on Nut Bread. She was one of the twelve girls who were selected to represent Garvin County at 4-H Club Round-Up. She was in the top five of seventh year manual at the dress review. Patricia took the personality prize, a $50 war bond from the area personality improvement contest in Duncan, Oct. 29. She was one of two girls and two boys awarded the prize in new 4-H program. Her timely topic and personality improvement notebook will be submitted for State competition. PATRICIA McWHIRTER SHIRLEY CHRIST Shirley had the Grand Champion barrow at Maysville, Pauls Valley and Ardmore. The Champion Chester White Barrow at the fat stock show at Oklahoma City. (Shirley received four trophies and she was a guest at the 4-H achievement banquet). She attended the soil conservation contest at Pauls Valley. The team placed third. In judging at the Oklahoma City state fair Anna won three firsts in individual judging for horticulture, home grounds beautification and ninth year nutrition. She was also a member of the county 4-H team that placed first in judging horticulture and home grounds beautification. Anna, who is a Senior in Maysville High School and a ninth year 4-H member, pre- pared well for her role on the horticulture judging team. Her parents bought a copy of the National Geographic magazine last summer. In her spare time, Anna studied the magazine and memorized the names of the various plants pictured in the magazine. ANNA DIXON During 1954 Clara Lou placed seventh in the county demonstration contest and was selected as one of the twelve girls to represent Garvin County at 4-H Round-Up in Stillwater. She won second on her dress at the county dress review. At the county meat Identification contest she placed in the top four and attended the state contest in Oklahoma City. At the county fair Clara placed second on her dress. Clara attended the state fair school in Oklahoma City as a result of placing in the top five at the county judging contest. In the state clothing contest she placed third. As a result of her work in 1954 she was awarded a leadership award and she became a key award member. Wynnewood, a strong team, was favored to spoil the un- defeated year that the Warriors were planning to have, but instead they received a good stomping as the Warriors played one of their best games. The undefeated season made a total of 17 straight wins for Maysville. They were declared 54 State Cham- pions by being rated number 1 in C class. Winning the Washita Valley Conference they placed Jerry Vaughn, Harold Bolles, Ralph Bolles, Carlton Mayfield, Paul McKinney, Hubert York, and Dixie Pharaoh on the All-Conference team, the latter two being all- state nominees.
