Their various activities for the year included: collecting for Cystic Fibrosis and Heart Fund; providing refreshments and hostesses for Parent’s night and Home- coming; assisting the Community Swine Flu Clinic; ballgame concessions; 50's Soc-Hop for members; attend- ing F.H.A. Regional and State meetings; members obtaining F.H.A. State degrees and Jr. Chapter degrees; participating in F. H. Throughout the year, members exchanged ideas and concepts relating to ancient Rome and France and they learned a great deal from guest speakers. The club’s annual Christmas party was held in the auditorium in December. Students and fac- ulty members enjoyed refresh- ments and festivities. This year the club also held a picnic at Rotary Park in the spring. The Foreign Language Club had two distinguished guest speakers this year. Martha Comer spoke to the club mem- bers about Latin and how it is used in the English language today. Madame Jarzebowski, language instructor at Maysville Community College, spoke about modern French customs and family life. 21

Guidance Advisory Committee The guidance committee was formed by Mr. Greg Perkins, guidance counselor at M.H.S. The committee consists of stu- dents, faculty members, and cit- izens of Maysville. Its function is to evaluate and, if possible, improve the guidance service at M.H.S. The guidance office exists to assist students in educa- tional and vocational choices and plans, to assess and understand students’ abilities and interests, and to aid students in making social as well as personal adjust- ments.
