The Bulldogs fought mightily but were defeated by West Carter by a score of 30-28. The halftime festivities were beautiful and exciting as Miss Dana Poe was chosen Homecoming Queen. Miss Marla Ridgon, last year's queen, crowned Miss Poe. Mary Hampton, vice-president of the student council, presented the new queen with a dozen beautiful red roses. A dance was held in the MHS gymnasium after the game. Cain provided the music. The student council is to be praised for the excellent job they did in sponsoring and organizing this year's home- coming . Stephanie Black, Dean Phelps, Janet Lester, David Simms, Lisa Lesley. 90 Brother Goose, a delightful three-act comedy, was presented in November by the Senior Class of 1977. Miss Mary Beth Helton directed the play, which centered around the Adams' household in the small town of Ashton. Jeff Adams, a would-be architect, is responsible for raising his orphaned sisters and brother, Carol, Hya- cinth, and Wes. It seems Wes is always chasing after Eve, and Hyacinth would rather play football than practice her piano and the housekeeper Mrs. Lumpkins has just walked out. As if things weren't complicated enough, Jeff is busy design- ing buildings; including a house for Lenore, an impolite upstart. Peggy Winkel, a door-to-door saleswoman, pro- vides some help for the Adams household and ends up staying permanently. We congratulate the seniors and Miss Helton for the excellent job they did. Special thanks are also in order to Mr. Richard Butler, who was in charge of set construction and sound effects, and to the backstage and make-up crews. 91 T r 0 P 1 c a I P a r a d i s e 92 Miss Debbie Poynter and Mr. John Zweigart were crowned queen and king at the annual junior-senior prom held May 7 in the high school gym. Eddie Davis, president of the junior class, and Tammi Hall, secre- tary, placed the red velvet and gold crowns on the heads of the king and queen. First attendants to the royal pair were Jennifer Collings and Mike Poe. The gym was decorated to depict an original Tropical Para- dise with scenery ranging from a life-like beach view to views of the Pacific Ocean. Guests were served refreshments by Junior mothers.
