REVIEW OF THE FOOTBALL SEASON Having begun practice with dismal prospects for a strong team, the Klaysville Bulldogs surprised even their most ardent backers and turned in results for the most successful season since 1925. The Gold and VVhite won six of its eight contests. Against Central Kentucky Conference opposition, Coach .lones's boys won four con- tests and lost only one, ranking fourth in the standing of the league. The success of the Nlaysville gridders was due mainly to the rapid development of the line. Lee, Rasp, Sweet, Cullen, VValker, and Nlitchell formed a strong for- ward wall. In the backfield Fishter developed fine form. Lee, Fishter, and Cullen were ranked among the outstanding players in the Con- ference. Captain Pop Rees was mentioned candidate for the Lexington Leader trophy, an award based on leadership, sportsmanship, and playing ability. Probably the most outstanding victories of the season were the NI. NI. I. and Lawrenceburg games. On the eve of the BI. BI. l. game, the Bulldogs were given genuine, rousing support by everyone at a pep rally when hi. KI. I. was carried in a hearse and burned in effigy, no doubt the largest and most spirited pep rally ever staged by the Nlaysville student body. This fine spirit and action predominated the team and student body for the entire season. THE SQUAD 27
