Senior Class History We again as seniors of May’s Lick High School wish to leave a memory of our past with the upper- classmen Into our years of high school we have crowded many helpful and happy experiences. We are now leaving our dear high school day to go into the world to continue our education or to work, hop- per to be successful citizens of America. In September, 1941, three of us started our happy school days at May’s Lick. We were Joyce Paynter, Nathan Butler and Norma Graves. The next year we were happy to welcome Rosanne Kachler from Ewing into our class. Clara McVey joined us from Bethel in the sixth grade and Buddy Cropper came from Flemingsburg in the eighth grade. Then came the fall of 1949 when we entered high school as the Green Freshmen Class. Another member, Stanley Campbell, who came from Sardis, was in our group then. Miss Pauline Smith was our sponsor. Our officers were Joyce Paynter, President, Buddy Cropper, Vice President, Melvin Caywood, Sec- retary, and Wanda Roberson, Treasurer. An exciting event of this year was when we were initiated into the FHA and FFA Chapters. Next came our Sophomore year. This year com- pleted our group when we welcomed Gayle Barbee, Ruth Stevenson, Joyce Emmons, Wilma Mason, Clin- ton Wilson, Chester Dugan, and Allen Morgan from Washington, Allene Newdigate, Mary Irvin, Marian Bell, Audra Hill, Virginia Marshall and G. M. Bierlin from Lewisburg, and Charles Benson from Irvine. Mrs. Louise Linville was our sponsor. Our officers were Nathan Butler, President, Hank Barbour, Vice President, Delores Duncan, Secretary, and Barbara Owens, Treasurer. Then came our Junior year, which brought many interesting and exciting adventures. Our class officers were Nathan Butler, President, Hank Barbour, Vice President, Joyce Paynter, Secretary, Rosanne Kachler, Treasurer, and Norma Graves, Reporter. In May we gave cur Junior-Senior Banquet. Our theme was “Old Fashioned Garden”. It was the most enjoyable occasion of the year. Another exciting event that year was when we received our class rings. Now as we are Seniors, we think back over the last three years of our life and High School career. We have, no doubt, had hard knocks and bumps, but we have enjoyed each year as we will never enjoy any future years. This being our Senior and last year we have hac the most enjoyable year of all. Waiting for Gerald each day; Along came a teacher, deplorable creature, And frightened poor Gerald away. Miss Hill, she sang in the choir. Her voice it rose higher and higher. They thought it so high, It must reach the sky, But next morning, ’twas found on the spire. Chili hot Chili cold Chili in the pot Nine days old. Some like it hot Some like it cold But the seniors don’t like it Hot or cold Editor—Co-editor, to whom we are debtor, How does your annual grow? With stories rare, and girls so fair. Paul Benson must forever be hungry as a bear For at the front of the lunch line, he is alway; there. Larry Dillon is quite a tease Even so—his grades are made with ease. Lowell Haggard is always busy as a bee But little he accomplishes as far as we see. Douglas Linville is a bashful guy Still, some of the girls give him the eye. As Billy Mason is the youngest in our class There is never a doubt his high mark will pas; Our class thinks Roger Moran is a “bum” refers An allright fellow, though, we’ll all agree. Roy Swartz has trouble with his Ford But many of the girls say, “all aboard!” Ernest Throckmorton is a boy who never fusse: or kicks Yet he surely likes to argue those politics. Keith Worthington, pur musician boy, Is full of mischief and overcome with joy. Phyllis Breeze dresses up in her buttons and bov. Then away with Harold, like a flash, she goes. Pat Buchanan has a way with the boys Those light blue eyes make enough noise. Faye Campbell is quite a chick For she and Chick surely do click. Verna Cropper is a very quiet miss Always pleasant and easy to talk with. Jenny Doyle will never lose, Wayne or Curly, which will she choose? Helen Duncan is quite a gal Always cheerful and Barbara’s pal. Anna Ruth Haggard is our straight “A” girl No one doubts that she will advance in the worl; Barbara Hicks, so cute and sweet. Thinks that Herbert can’t be beat. Joann Hitt is always merry Especially when around—that Johnny Berry. Edna Earl Huber gets very blue When the creek gets up and Bobby’s due. Carolyn Linville is our class president, true, Active in speech and other activities, too. Helen McRoberts—an excellent student Is courteous and kind, as well as jubilant. Jewell Mullikin thinks some cars are terrible But she surely does like a ’48 maroon convert® Phyllis Poe is true as can be To Private Gifford, we all plainly see. Eleanor Rice—our Cheerleader is she, Has lots of pep and vitality. Betty Jo Ross’s head surely turns When she sees a boy named Charlie Burns. Calma Jean Sanders and Robert will go far If he ever gets his brand new car. Carleene Sidell’s favorite hobby Is dating dear little Bobby. Rosemary Stanton with her pretty brown hail Surely makes one boy stand up and stare. Barbara Ward, a girl who is gay, Knows someone interesting down Brooksville VX Betty Wells is a girl that everyone knows She brightens the way wherever she goes.
