After a few days our timidity began to wear off, and under the supervision of our home - room teacher, Mr. J. C. Atkinson, we began to feel more at ease in our surroundings. lt seemed that before we knew it, we were Sophomores, feeling very important. At the beginning of our second year in high school we were able to participate in more clubs and sports. Our home-room teacher that year was Mrs. Webster, and it was that year we ordered our class rings. Everyone was greatly excited over them. We began our Junior year under the direction of Miss Gladys Moore. During this important year we sponsored a Halloween Carnival to raise money for the Junior-Senior banquet. The banquet was held at the Robert E. Lee Hotel in Winston-Salem on Saturday, April l0. All the students and guests had a delightful time. A little later everyone in our class was thrilled when we received our class rings. As we begin our last year of high school, only seventeen seniors are left to graduate. With the leadership of our home-room teacher, Miss Dosier, we are in the process of publishing the school annual. All too soon the time for graduation is drawing near, with the door of opportunity opened wide to each senior as he goes out into an unknown future. BETTY WOODS Historian
