' - ' xt T MASCOTS SHERRY GRAVLEY JERRY GRAVLEY H islorlq We began our trek through school some years ago, hoping to grow up and make our mark in the world. Our first teachers along the way were Mrs. Loftis and Miss Siscell. There were two grades because there was such a large class. There were two grades until we reached the eighth grade and Mrs. Wade Lemons. We came through the grammar grades with no tragedies, except may- be the loss of a classmate who thought passing would be too much of a strain. Some changed schools, and occasionally a new student joined our class. Finally, when we reached the eighth grade, there were fifty of us. Mrs. Wade Lemons was our teacher that year. She taught us a great deal, but we had fun just the same. Thus we began our high school careers. Miss Joyce started us off in the ninth grade, and Mrs. Don Stillwell helped us along the way in the ten- th. The eleventh grade was a very full year, for we sponsored the ban- quet Qwith a few helpful hints from Coach Leon Moorej and gave a class play, Spring Fever , which was murdered on the night of May 6, 1949, with the help of a number of us. This year we graduate fwe hopej amid tears of sorrow at our leaving. But, seriously, our years in Mayodan High School have been wonderful, though tough going at times. With the help of Miss Dozier we publish the Anchor this year, and plan to give a senior play. These, with other Senior activities will end our happy years at DEAR OLD MAYODAN HIGH.
