7 Mr. Joki, Industrial Arts, started teaching here in 1975 When asked about the comet he said, “Halley who?” He also said, “the class of ‘86 is orbiting, waiting to make a big splash 8 Mr. Gary Jusseaume, English, was at Marlborough High before coming to Maynard in 1975. In answer to our inquiry he said, “Moi plan is to listen to the sound track of Cosmos while musing about whatever vagaries cross my mind’s eye.” 9. Mr Jack Kendra, Industrial Arts, started teaching here in 1965. He will celebrate the return of Halley with a moonlight serenade, and he feels that our class and Comet Halley, “move along the same wave length . ” 10, Mr Lent, Social Studies, started teaching here in 1968. He plans to observe the comet by, “following an ancient ritualistic practice of getting up in the morning and going to bed at night. II Mr Kraft, Language, taught in Westwood before coming here in the fall He said, “The class of ’86 and the comet are experiences we can only once enjoy every 100 years.” Mr. Koskinen, Physical Education, taught in Tennessee before coming 12. here in 1970 He would rather watch a football game than the comet and he thinks the class of ' 86 is “moving through space leaving a bit of history behind them.” 13. Ms. Shirley Klepadlo, Chemistry, worked at Marlborough High and the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology. Her plans for the comet’s return include, “observing it through a telescope on a yacht ” 9

1 Mrs Beverly Fox, Guidance Counselor, came to Maynard High School in 1974; previously she taught at Northfield Mount Hermon School. 2 Mr Garabedian was a music teacher in Old Town, Maine before coming here in 1953 He plans to, Watch the comet on television, and said the class of ‘86 is. like the comet, here today — gone tomorrow 3. Mrs. Hannon, Special Ed. Assistant, started at MHS in 1981. She is planning a small comet party and says, The class of ‘86 doesn ' t compare with the Comet Halley. 4 Mr Harris. Business, came here in 1981 alter teaching at Assabet Vocational To celebrate the comet he plans to, “have a few beers and observe. To him, the class of ‘86 is, spaced out. 5 Mrs. Haughey, English, taught in other schools in Massachusetts, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio before coming here in September. She expects to, be grading papers during the comet’s entire course. Mrs Hayes. Business, was a Traffic Supervisor with the Lincoln Police Dept and has taught here since 1965. She plans to go to Australia to get a better view of the comet, and finds our class, “Incredible 8

.ifiUtftU 1 Mr LeSage, Math, has been teaching here for thirteen years and says, “Comet Halley, like the class of ' 86, is a once in a lifetime experience. 2. Mr. Linney, English, started teaching at Maynard in 1968 He plans to observe the comet from the “flagpole sitting atop WAVM’s antenna” His comment on our class is, “as long as one like it returns only once in seventy-six years we’ll survive.” 3. Mr. Magno, Audio-Visual, taught seventh and eighth grade English in Rhode Island before coming here in 1963. For the comet he plans to “lose a few pounds, just a few, so I can go on a future shuttle flight.” 4 Mr Najjar. Math, was at Bellingham High School before he came to MHS in 1965. He says, “A class like this one could only appear once in 76 years.” 5. Ms. Newsham, Language, worked at Digital and as a substitute teacher before coming to our school in 1975. She has no plans as yet for the return of the comet, but says, “The class of ' 86 is bright from the start . ’ ’ 6 Mrs. Noyes, Business, worked for the government in Washington, D C. and then in a finance office in Kansas City before starting teaching at Maynard in 1965. 7. Mr. Pekkala worked with Mujabedin, the Afghani freedom fighters, before coming to Maynard in 1897. He is going to return to the planet Krypton for a galactic reunion. He can’t decide about the class of ‘86, “either a white dwarf or a black hole.” 10
