Maynard High School established a chapter in 1983. The organization promotes creative talent, service, and responsibility to the school and community. It opens the way to an important focus upon the values of art which benefit not only chapter members but all students. In addition to working on their own creative projects, our NAHS members work on all school posters, signs and programs as well as community promo- tions. A favorite project is the annual decoration of the courtyard windows for the holiday season. Row one — Emily Walazek, Colleen Kaczor, Susan Maki, Dawn Cullen. Some of our most memorable events were the student broadcast, live downtown specials, annual awards banquet, and annual outing. At seven thirty, on the evening of May third, extravagantly dressed couples arrived at the Natick Hilton anticipating an evening of romance and festivity. We all danced to the Prom’s theme, Tender Years, and shared in the thrill of the Queen’s Waltz, You’re the Inspiration. Our hopes for the evening were colored with brightness on this once-in-a-lifetime occasion. 93 Dedication for two friends . . . Teddi Patterson Teddi Patterson has worked for the Maynard Public Schools since 1973 and became guidance secretary at the high school in 1981 . Many of us remember Mrs. Patterson as Miss Sheridan’s secretary at the Coolidge School or as Mr. Hill’s secretary at Green Meadow. We have appreciated her help and her great sense of humor on our many visits to the Guidance Office. She is looking forward to retirement on her beloved Cape Cod where she can enjoy days in the sun and her four grandchildren. We wish you all the very best and extend our gratitude. Kenneth G. Abbott Since September of 1968, Maynard High School has been led by a dedicated, determined, hard working individual, Mr. Kenneth Abbott. The position of principal at Maynard High is a tremendously challenging job. Many small learning institutions, like ours, become static and resist change. Mr. Abbott recognized the importance of growth in the school system but at the same time was committed to the fundamental principles of education. Mr. Abbott was always courteous and caring towards the students and faculty. This is a human trait that we will remember and should take with us throughout our endeavors in the years after leaving Maynard High School. Thank you Mr. Abbott, once again. His girl friend and his lack of success as a scriptwriter complicate the issue. The Maynard High production of this delightful play starred Sean Mahoney, Holly MacDougall, and Lisette Dentino.
