Mrs. Hill came to Maynard High School from successful careers in the Coast Guard , in business , and in the home as a wife and mother. Here at Maynard High she added another success as a teacher of English; and now on her retirement from teaching we wish her all the best in her next ventures. BEST WISHES Betty R. Enough of this sweet talk . where’s my dinner? That does it! Who ordered the Mouse Stew? In Memoriam George J. Lemire Whether it is as a dedicated educator, caring parent, respected colleague, or concerned citizen, George Lemire will be warmly remembered in Maynard. His burly size and booming, deep voice contradicted his gentle, warm-hearted nature. George Lemire had a long, distinguished career in education including service as an Elementary Principal in Winchendon, Lexington and Acton, a consultant to the State Depart- ment of Education, and most recently as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools and Director of Special Education in Maynard. He represented the truly dedicated administrator who approached his vocation not as ajob, but as a way of life, blending innovation with praticality. The Maynard Schools and the Class of 1984 will remember George Lemire as a man who cared. 112 1984 Screech Owl Staff Front — Anne Narekiewicz, editor, Lisa Biasi, Laura Freemyer, Marcy Jaillet.
