During the past fifteen years she has served as Secretary to the Principal at Maynard High School and has served with excellence in every way. No matter how hectic the front office became, Mrs. Murphv always found time for a pleasant exchange, and she was untiring in her willingness to help with any task at hand. Always gentle-nature, Mrs. Murphy has been admired and respected by students and faculty alike throughout her stay at Maynard High School. We wish her health and happi- ness. We also take this time to thank her for being a part of our lives we will always cherish and remember. To that end the 1982 Screech Owl is gratefully dedicated. DEDICATION MRS. The station was upgraded to 150 watts stereo, and we saw the beginning of cable TV in Maynard. Both WAVM and Cable TV moved into a beautiful new studio last October and things have been going great ever since. WAVM was lead this past year by General Managers, Mike Sale and Brian Lafauce. They were assisted by Assistant G.M.’s John Gallager, Peter Slabysz, and David Hunter, along with an aide staff of directors and broadcasters. WAVM held many special events during the past year including an amateur broad- cast contest, parent broadcast, and faculty broadcast. Once again, the station was responsible for raising over $1,000.00 to help the Beacon Santa. Exciting interviews were conducted with such celebrities as Dwight Evans of the Boston Red Sox, members of the New England Pat- riots, and the Bruins and Celtics. Many radio and televi- sion personalities were also featured. i 36 WAVM STAFF MEMBERS General Managers: Mike Sale, Brian Lafauce. At 7 O’clock the cars and limousines began to arrive bearing the lovely ladies of the class of 1982 and their smartly dressed escorts. At 8 O’clock the elegant “Grand March” took place to the music of Seals and Crofts’ reminiscent “We May Never Pass This Way Again.” A mouth-watering feast of Roast Beef and Chicken followed, and after the last scrumptious brownie sundae was finished the couples enjoyed dancing to the music of The Scout Band until that magical moment, the magnificent coronation of our king and queen. King Ron LoChiatto, Queen San- dy Fillmore, and their Court began their reign with a dance to Boz Scagg’s romantic rendering of “We’re All Alone.” cm • w W im i 1 wm 38 39 D.A.R. The Marching Band, with Mr. Leo Foley as their leader, never failed to thrill and entertain the home crowds with their spirited half-time maneu- vers during football season. As in the past, our band was a favorite feature of all of the seasonal parades in town, and gave a remarkably enjoy- able performa nce at the annual Christmas Con- cert. In anticipation of the year’s expenses, the band sponsored a number of fund-raising events, including the car wash, calendar sales, roller-skating party, and the ever-popular Ham and Bean Supper. Throughout the year, Mr. Garabedian, Mr. Foley, our talented staff of pri- vate lesson teachers, and the officers prepared the band for an exchange concert with the Gar- den Spot High School Band, of New Holland, Pennsylvania. I he exchange was a huge success. Front Row: Lori Cochran, Andrea Gallagher, Chris Savoy Capt., Karen Frank, Denise Swajian. They have devoted countless hours to making what I hope is an entertaining and exciting review of the past year captured in vivid detail. I wish to extend special thanks to Wil Boudreau, Ann Dakis, and Carol Roggeveen who served as editors. Also, I cannot forget the devoted effort of Sue Varrichione, Shirley Fitzpatrick, Dave Lemire, Lisa Hodgess, Kara McGuire and all the others who helped in so many ways. A special thank-you to Mr. Desy’s photography students, and especially Russel Laskowsky. I am indeed proud to have had the opportunity to work with such a Fine group of young men and women.
