We measure our days out in steps of uncertainty Not turning to see how we’ve come And peer down the highway From here to eternity And reach out for love on the run While the man for all seasons Is lost behind the sun. F THANK YOU!! It is hard to thank someone who has done so much for our class as a whole and each of us individually. As an advisor, teacher, softball coach, volleyball coach, photographer and friend, Mr. Lincoln, you have always given one-hundred and fifty percent. You supported every activity that we were involved in with enthusiasm, and we thank you for always being there. You definitely have influenced each and every one of us and we will miss your guidance and friendliness next year. To try to show our appreciation, we dedicate our Screech Owl ’79 to you. Mr. DeRosa We, the class of 1979, pay special tribute to our retiring Assistant Principal, Mr. Wilfred DeRosa, who has devoted 28 years to .Maynard High School. Appointed in February 1951 as a football coach and a teacher of social studies and ancient history, Will DeRosa soon established himself as one of the more popular teachers at Maynard High. For a number of years, he also served as the driver education teacher. In 1966, he was named to the position of Assistant Principal and continued to serve as a football coach through the 1977 season. For your guidance, your fair and impartial discipline, Mr. DeRosa, we salute you! 00 T K je_ .jLkJuTU a- ' -A-ort r crt cun, O2 cb-A_c oj orn, kuuufc GU-L -Unu - °- oy . uno j i.J jL la JU3 -«- IcuoJt. In the heat of August, the team candidates began the gruelling process of getting into condition. A combination of agility, speed and fine stickwork brought both the varsity and junior varsity teams to a satisfying 8-2-4 record. Varsity finished in second place in the Midland League, losing only to Hudson. For the first time in Maynard field hockey history, the Tigresses qualified for the District III Championship. The team was defeated in the first round 1-0 by Auburn, but the experience was very valuable. The team wishes to thank Barbara Moynihan and Mrs. Kulevich for their needed support. Under the fine coaching of Joe Cusson and Steve Desy, the girl ' s cross country placed first in the Midland League for the third consecutive year. The teams were led by tri-captains Sharon Santamaria, Lisa Manzo and Kristyn Sluyski. Our advisor, Paul Henning, was forced to take a medical leave of absence. Although his spirit was with us, his physical guidance was greatly needed. Each day our problem! seemed to increase with the disappearance of pictures, layouts, and even staff members. The deadline was drawing closer and the work to be completed seemed endless. We are very thankful Mr. Henning returned. H« organized the remaining staff members and put us to work. With his guidance we are able to say we’re finished. At this point we would like to extend a special thank-you to Celia Bartolotti for her endless moral support anc guidance. Thanks is also extended to Diane Melanson, Cathy Hartnett, Linda Nilsson, and Monique Karpeichil for their typing assistance. EDITOR (j ' ofuxL ' loruAmi ' mOAft CUuXs
