IWlI r For Reference Not to be taken (torn this room Our four years at Maynard High School have slipped past us. Those we have met, what we have learned, and what we have experienced create a picture in our minds as we now think back. The 1972 Screech Owl will help us recall more vividly our high school days. i sm Hiil M v ] i i . V . Pass the phenolphthalein, please! 1 period down 6 more to go “Stick save”, Fern It ' s a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live here.” Yes, Rick, we see you! “Who. . me?” The band gets “psyched” for a rally . Love is . holding hands. “Neatest Lunch Table” award! The corridors come alive. Another day has passed ‘Now look, Ed, there’s a right way and there’s my way.” Clowning around! Toohey descends. Homeward, at last! It works! ‘I’ll race you to the stop sign. Our cheerleaders “do their thing”. Crutches are in style “O.K., have it your way.” “There’s something stuck in my tooth Dedication Dear Mrs. Clair, As we reminisce about our years at Maynard High School, Room 102 and you come to mind. Room 102 was like any other room, but the teacher made the difference. We could see right from the start by the way you walked, an unusual kind of gait, and by the way you stuck your glasses on top of your head like a pilot’s goggles, that you were out of the ordinary. With your hand on your hip, you’d stand in front of the history class cracking jokes. But we learned. We learned far more than just history during that period. We learned how to express ourselves, unafraid in the informal atmo- sphere of your classroom. We learned responsibili- ty in the new Independent Study you instituted. And we learned respect for you, Mrs. Clair, as a teacher and as a friend. Thank you for all you have given us. There was so much enjoyment left unenjoyed, so much laughter left in silence, and so many tears left dry. But then I ask myself “why?” Do you know why? Robert P. From then on, it was all uphill! (From the dorm to the caf!) Red, white, and blue represented three ribbons and a lot of spirit awarded to the squad: excellent, outstanding, and superior. Then they moved to football and basketball seasons remembering such things as cheering in the snow, breakfast at Marty’s, competi- tion at Prouty, painted fingernails, smile, the back of the bus, the trio, Miss K., pulled muscles, four o’clock, and most of all being together and enjoying working together as a group.
