STUDENT COUNCIL CONVENTION: The Eastern Mas sachusetts Division of Student Councils convened on November 20, 1965. Maynard High School was host to Student Council members representing approxi- mately fifty-seven schools. Ideas and programs were exchanged as the students formed ten discussion groups, and later reassembled to hear the dynamic Dr. Hsieh. Dr. Hsieh, an honorary Chaplain of Curry College and a member of the Chinese Philanthropic Service, served as the ambassador to six countries, repre- senting the Republic of China. Dr. Hsieh holds twenty- six degrees and has been ordained a minister and appointed a judge. November 20, 1965 will always be recalled as a stim- ulating experience, both intellectually and socially, by the participants of the Student Council Convention. MUSIC FESTIVAL: Maynard was honored to be the town in which the Northeastern Massachusetts Music Festival was held on May 15, 1965. It was a clear bright day as the participating schools filled the audi- torium and halls with the sounds of their music. The parade through downtown Maynard, the mass band concert at Alumni Field, and the auditioning of cho- ruses and glee clubs was the culmination. The Festival is looked upon as a friendly, co-operative musical experience proving that music really is the universal language. 24 Dr. Hsieh
