The outstanding agriculture student is Tom Brown. Tom is a fine young man who displays a sense of responsi- bility and is very dependable. He works to his capacity at all times and is a leader in his class. This gentleman can be considered an asset to the Agriculture Depart- ment of our school. Tommy has represented Evans in many c onte sts and has always cooperated in all the activities of the FFA. He has maintained anadmirable attendance record of FFA meetings. Sharon Ramirez The Distributive Education award for the outstanding senio r high school student goes to Senior Sharon Ramirez. Sharon is training on the job with J. C. Penny's as a retail sales lady. She is rated as an ex- cellent worker by her employer. Sharon is courteous and unselfish in her dealings with her fellow students as well as the public with whom she comes into con- tact in performing her daily job. Agriculture p Tom Brown D.E. Senior Nancy Lash was the outstanding DCT student for this past year. Her employer for the Diversified Co- operative Training program was Doctor Sauerburn. At work, as well as at school, Nancy has been most co- operative, displaying an excellent attitude toward her employer and her studies. Business Education inf Judy McAfee Home Economics Connie Crumling The 1961-1962 Outstanding Senior High School Student Home E conomic s Award was given to Miss Connie Crumling. Connie applies the knowledge of Home Eco- nomics in the techniques of Foods, Clothing Construc- tion, Home Management, Child Care, and Housing to her everyday life. She is a very capable person, accepting responsibility and following through to the successful completion of tasks assigned her. The faculty of the Business Education Department chose Judy McAfee to receive the Outstanding Business Ed- ucation Department Student Award for 1961-1962. Judy has majored in the field of business education and is outstanding in her work in business subjects. She is the possessor of a pleasant personality, is cooperative in working with the students and teachers in the depart- ment. It is felt that Miss McAfee will be an asset to some future business office. Social Studies Carolyn Roberson Carolyn Roberson has been an honor student in the Social Studies Department throughout her high school career. She has excelled in all of her social studies, making the highest score in the Social Studies area in the national testing program given at Maynard Evans. Carolyn is a dedicated scholar whof realizes not only the value but the necessity of a good education.

Lynn has been a member of the Choral Guild since its inception in 1959. She has been the Guild's librarian for three yearsg has beena soloist for concerts and assembliesg has been a Key memberg and has performedin soloing at the District IV Florida Vocal Association Festival in 1961. In 1962 Lynn rep- resented Evans at the All-State' Concert Chorus. Band Joe Mills D he f. I 5 Pictured at the left is the recipient of the Outstanding Industrial Arts Student Award--Larry Lowe. A credit to the Evans Industrial Arts Department, Larry takes pride in his work. He is very exacting in his work and his drawings ranked high in the Central Florida Fair. He is neat in his appearance and in his daily work habits. Choral Guild Lynn Beuchat The selection of the outstanding Band s tu de nt of the school year was made by the director and the students of the band. Joe Mills is student director and has been active in all the appearanc e s of the Pep Band. His leadership abilities and his conscientious e f fo r t s in the interests of the band more than qualifies him for this honor. Unselfishly Joe has served the band and the school in matters pertaining to our instrumental music program. 52
