Evans A cquires S Zadz um As the students returned to Evans this year, there was something new on our cam- pus. The Evans High Stadium was finally completed. The dream of the Evans High Dad's Club became a reality. This project started early in 1959. Our principal, envisioning afuture stadium, had the 290th Engineering Battalion of the Army Reserve clear several acres on the north end of our campus. In the latter part of 19 59 the newly formed Dad's Club, under the administration of Mr. John Watson, contin- ued the efforts toward the completion of a much needed stadium. In the fall of 1960, after many days of hard work and planning the football team, for the first time had their own practice field. Later that year the Junior Varsity Football team played three games on the new field. As the 1961 school year began, we found aremarkable change in our practice field. There are now lights, bleachers to seat over 3,000fans, andabeautiful score board donated by the C o c a - C ola Co. It was through the hard work of our Dad's Club, the Florida Power and Light Co., Demetree Builders, and Orange County Commission- ers and other interested fans that we have our new stadium.
