Followed In Determining Senior Prize Winners To be eligible for any prize a candidate must have been enrolled in this school during the first semester of his Iunior year and have attended from then until graduation. Valedictorian and Salutatorian averages are figured through three and three-quarters years. All subject prizes cover four years. VALEDICTORIAN, SALUTATORIAN: The weighted average as follows: ' Four units of English, four units of citizenship education, general science and either heal,th or biology must be used by every- one. For the remainder of the subjects, the candidate must claim enough to make sixteen or more units. Band and choir grades will be disregarded. Regents or school final grades may be used except that Regents grades must be used for English three years, world history and for subjects in the major field in which Regents are given. Subjects claimed as major must be included. ENGLISH-The average of the final grades of English I,ll,lV and English Three years' Regents. CITIZENSI-IIP EDUCATION-The average of the final school grades in world geography lcitizenship education 91 and American History I and Regents grades in world history and American History II. SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, FRENCH, HOMEMAKING, INDUSTRIAL ARTS AND COMMERCE-ln any of these fields any subjects re- quired for a state diploma and a major must be used plus two more subjects. Regents marks must be used in all subjects in which Regents examinations are given. OUTSTANDING SENIOR-Outstanding Senior selection is made by the entire Secondary Faculty. They consider such factors as leadership, citizenship, cooperation, the ability to get along with others, and scholastic average. No one will be considered whose scholastic average is less than 8017. ATHLETICS-This selection is more or less a subjective one as there are too few factors to be weighted objectively. A candidate must have earned five letters to be eligible. MUSIC-This selection will be made by the Music Instructor or Instructors. The requirements are: A member of the band and choir, plus outstanding ability which has been proven by participation in operettas, concerts and competition.
