From September through January, the Class of 1955, has attempted to make an improved Yearbook. The book would not have been possible without the help of all the patrons and subscribers. Many thanks are due Mr. Smithers and the faculty for all of their co-operation. We would like to express our appreciation to our coach, Mr. John Boshart and our athletic teams for their accomplishments. Our basketball team for '53-'5h, battled their way to the sectionals in Saratoga, but lost the first night. That is the best any Mayfield basketball team has done yet. Our baseball team was undefeated in league play which is the first time that any team has ac- complished that feat. Our present basketball team, as we end our Yearbook for '55, is undefeated having won 13 straight games. We have high hopes for you, boys, so keep on driving!! In the 1956 edition of the Yearbook there will be a wider coverage of the spring events that have normally been omitted. Examples of this areg the graduation of the present Senior Class, the Senior Ball and an other highlights of the spring. Remember to get your order in for next year's Yearbook to get the complete results and to have a lasting memory of MGS. 7.fa,.....-V V . aan- :2. 2 AS we were completing our Yearbook, we were deeply saddened by the loss of one of the prominent citizens of Mayfield, Mr. Kenneth Davison. He was employed at one time as a custodian and until his last illness, as a bus driver for M.C.S. He was a friend to all of us, a strong supporter of the school and often connected with various community activities. We sincerely sympathize with all those bereaved by his passing. Through his guid- ance our yearbook and Senior Trip have been made possible and our other ac- tivities a success. We therefore take this opportunity to express our grati- tude. Mr, Deuluciba Mr. McDonald 4 4 GRA'l'I'I'l.lDE p We, of the Class of 1955, are grate- ful to Mr. DeLucia, and Mr. McDonald. Both were our faithful friends and ready to advise us at all times. Each showed a personal interest in each one of us, and were always ready to lend us a help- ing hand. It won the league by going undefeated in league play, which has never been accomplished before. The Broadalbin game, played at Mayfield, was one of the two which proved to be a very near upset. Mayfield had been leading all through the game until Broadalbin rallied in the 7th inning to go ahead. This jolted the Panthers so they tied the score and the game went into extra innings. Both teams worked very hard but Mayfield's superior pitching andspiritproved a success when Mayfield scored in the eigh- th to win. The second of the near upset was our last game with Fonda-Fultonville. The score was very close the whole game, but the Panthers superiority revealed itself. The team is very great- ful to the pitching staff among which Babe Baldwin had two no-hitters and Dave Becker had two one- hitters. , Baseball Scores Mayfield Opponents N, Nernhville 8 o N, 'f 9 0 ezs' if Broadalbin 5 o 6 5 - effe iz-J' JE I Wells 5 o 4 e 2 O is. Honors of glorious victories abound, Lift your glad voices till echos resound. Sons of our school through the years always stand, Shoulder to shoulder and proud of our land. Building forever a refuge from wrong, Home of the bravest and land of the strong. Soft in the evening our songs we will sing, Memories of school days the harmonies bring. Go back to Mayfield ye sons of her fold, Once more to honor and cheer as of old. s eq-, H This book printed by Velvatone, a special process of lithogr 81-I printing. Sole producers: Wm. J.
