Who honestly wants to lounge around in a stuffy classroom when beyond the skyscrapers sleeps a wild tur- quoise ocean just waiting to be wakened by the laughter of Eoung beachbums? With a lazing sun grinning over Southern California, rows of various shades of white, scarlet, and brown bodies bask over inviting golden sands along the coast. Air- conditioners blast, as do a myriad host of portable stereos. A rainbow of surf- boards skim the whitecaps un- til thesun goes down, then the beachbums race for the bon- fires and clambakes.
