This past year Mayfair has had a series of changes that will become established In the new decade. The next few pages will pictorially depict a few of these changes. Mayfair ' s unique Sub-School plan began in 1958 when the school opened. Under this new plan, administration, dis- cipline and counseling were divided among the Sub-School offices. A change in this plan on the drawing board; how- ever, had to be initiated early due to the resignation of Sub- School 11 vice-principal, Mr. Jack Thompson. An individualized instructional program, will become the main focus of the new system, explains Mayfair principal, Mr. Ken Davis. The new .system provided a total of three administrators — Mr. Davis, Mr. Prince and Mr. Brink. Mr. Davis, as prin- cipal, works directly with the department chairmen and the entire faculty to try to bring the most effective instructional program to MHS. Mr. Prince became basically the plant manager , which makes him responsible for keeping the whole school in oper- ation. He works very closely with the Athletics and Activities offices, the school nurse, the building foreman and manages all financial matters of the school. Any serious discipline is now handled solely by Mr. Brink, while matters of lesser degree are left up to the coun- seling center. There is also an attendance supervisor who handles all disciplinary attendance problems. Students are now assigned to counselors according to their grade level. TTie new administrative plan has not been fully revealed. In September. Teacher Educational Advisors will be provided for all Monsoons, as well as many more new administrative ideas. Administrative reorganization was not the only change at Mayfair in 1970. The first day of the second semester brought about the start of the single lunch program. The use of paper plates and plastic utensils came into view. Students could no longer complain that their friends had another lunch, so less program changes occurred. Pontoon classes for members of the class of 71 began in January. It was an experiment in curriculum developmeiit. The class consisted of 150 juniors enrolled in American His- tory, American Literature and P.E. It featured a program of team teaching and a unique physical education program. Con ' t.
