It ' s almost depressing. One of these days, when you feel really old, read on about how it was when Girls wore pant dresses. Boys wore shorts and T-shirts. After the games, everyone went to Bob ' s, Jack in the Box. Shakeys or MacDonalds. Boys smelled like Brut. Everyone saw Dr. Zhivago two times. On the weekends you went to the Long Beach Drive-in or the Los Altos Drive-in, or a big party in Newport or Long Beach. Cruisers were stopped for dirty windshields. Girls wore Wiglets and hair pieces. Say you were bippin ' along Allington at 2A I, with your radio blaring commercials from KHJ. KRLA, or KWIZ, you might hear . . The Doors The Stones The Standells Association Simon and Garfunkle Righteous Brothers Sergeant Peppers Lonely Heart ' s Club Supremes As you pass the Lakewood Walk-in or the good ol ' Holiday Theatre you might see Born Losers Valley of the Dolls Gone with the Wind The Trip Dr. Zhivago The Dirty Dozen Jungle Book A Man for All Seasons msBaBsm wm When you feel like lettin ' it all hang out. you rocked out at the Cheetah, or the Golden Bear, or the C.C. (Cinnamon Cinder). Speaking of out . -j Folk music is out -Folk -rock is in. Neat is out- Hot is in. Soupy Sales is out— The Great Pumpkin is in. Protest songs are out, because Open Letter to a Teenage Son made the Boss 30. Surfing is out -unless you ' re a surfer (then its still not in.) The Twist is out- Everything since is in. The Monster from the Black Lagoon was in. well almost. Yes, these were the good old days Curfew at 10 o ' clock. When you brought two dozen rolls of toilet paper, it wasn ' t because you had 24 bathrooms. The Bay really rocked out. The Big bird in the sky flashed his spotlights on you as you threw that last Cherry Bomb! Is there a lump in your throat? Do you wish you could stay 17 always? After many years of service and devotion, she is considered in our opinion to be one of the most outstanding teachers here at Mayfair. Miss Smith has spent numerous hours working with the pep squad, drill team, modern dance, and physical education classes. Every student at Mayfair has at sometime appreciated what her efforts have accomplished in the areas of her many interests. This aspect of Mayfair student activity contin- ues to be the nucleus around which revolve the many activities of the student body. Who is not continually satisfied with the great progress that the activities which she sponsors have shown over the years? For your service to our school and your concern for its many students. Miss Smith, we dedicate the Tradewinds. 1968. r L J 19 ■i SBSEBBa DBSa WHHH OUK WKBJQ: 21 I Seniors: Pride in Accomplishment a PRINCIPAL ' S AWARD MARY JO WAGNER THE PRINCIPAL ' S AWARD is given each year by the principal to the graduating senior who has given outstanding service to iMayfair for four years.
