JJU CAiefltaUi PUBLISHED by the SENIOR CLASS OF 1956 MAYETTA RURAL HIGH SCHOOL Meyetta, Kansas w Qedicat - This page sponsored by MAYETTA OIL COMPANY Mayetta, Kansas It is with pleasure that we. the senior class, dedicate the 1956 Chieftain to our bus drivers. The education of many individuals would be hindered were it not for the services of these men. In addition to their duties, they are always ready to pro- vide transportation facilities for our many school activities. Ralph Castor Ray Folger William Osburn John McAlexander William Osburn. . . R. J. Dickinson. . . E. A. Me Alexander . Director Treasurer . . . Clerk Just as a mirror reflects our image, so will this an- nual reflect the faded memories of school days. When ■ the hands of the clock have revolved over and over again, leaving their mark upon each and all of us, then will the pages of this annual picture a true re- flection of all the joys and sorrows, pleasures and hardships which were in reality, stepping stones on which we, step by step, have risen to Senior dis- tinction. What wonder then, when years of lifehave left our memories hazy, that this book shall reflect the past charms of youth and fellow classmates. This page sponsored by NEHI-7 UP BOTTLING CO. There’s a junior girl who likes him too. Gwyn Daugherty plays forward on our girl's team, When it comes to Ray, she's on the beam. Robert Folger is another athlete, The girls all think he is really neat. Mary Wauge is smart and cute, She has a trumpet she can really toot. At getting out of school work, who's our best? Paul Steward really meets that test. We're all glad Norma Eisenbarth was born. She' everyones' pal, but especially Oran’s. Karl Schilling's better known as Kactus'', At dodging girls he preaches--and practices. Hattie Holliday claims that she hasn't any guy, But she's never home on Saturday nite- we wonder why! Rhoda Dye DUTTS MARKET Mayetta, Kansas The Kansas Association for Youth, now in its eleventh year, has become one of the leading extra -curricular activities in some two hundred of the big schools of the state. The Mayetta club is a charter member of the organization. Through the years we have participated in many school service, community service, and world service projects. This year, we have contributed to the Red Cross, the March of Dimes, and Mealsfor Millions. On January 12 we were hosts for the Unit Conference, when we entertained clubs from Hoyt, Delia, and Rossville. For our schoolservice projects, we have decorated the girls' rest room and have spon- sored several assembly programs. On March 9, we invited Miss Genevieve Powell, home teacher for Services for the Blind, to speak to the school andshow a movie. She was ac- companied by her seeing-eye dog, Peggy. For social activities, we had a Thanksgiving party, a Christmas party and gift exchange, a Valen- tine party, and showers for three brides. We sponsored a mother-daughter tea and a party for the Senior girls. To finance ourprqjects, we have sold candy at noon and 4 o'clock, served coffee and doughnuts at ball games, and sold wrapping paper and vanilla. We planto sendtwogirls to Kay- ette camp this summer.
