Being old fashioned, they believe in long engagements, gageu In 1969 we find Patsy Corder still in Hr. Shaw's constitution c'ass. It appears that Patsy has not been doing her homework, and pc a result, continues to fail the course each year. 'He wonder if Fatsy enjoys the course or the teacher. In 1971 we see Pat Goodwin as a big rancher of goats. He is forced as a beatnik, beard, and sweater, his proud possessions. In 1970 we see Jimmy Olver coring into high school with a c-ert beard and h s arm around his girl. (Of course it will be V.-nna Welch.) He's dressed in sandals. Tn 1963, we find Beverly Hix in high school. She is happily e with a handsome husband. She has seven children. 'e find Dolores Hernandez, 'n 1966, a star basketball player. 1971, at her peak of basketball success, she is voted the girl the sharpest elbows. Larry Littler and Prances Olvera, after four years of college, 1 • 1elan a trio to Africa. They will do research on the local T!'- tr be. Frances is interested in the tribe's shopping habits r: ; customs; Iarry wants to learn how to toss a spear and spit darts. and De velopment and Planning 1960 1961 1. Mayer organizes Chamber of Commerce. 2. Mrs. Louise Thoresen, a sixth teacher, added to school faculty. 3. Sarah Weir and Howard Davies in competitive debates with other schools. Speeches were supervised by LIrs . Thoresen. 4. Local community organization stages a Gay Nineties Review with local talent. 5. Boy Scouts Chapter, under the leader- ship of Mr. Bob Suckley, makes big strides. 6. Are there sny R.'0 T words that a teacher and student adviser sends away Ms graduating class? I wonder which of us, you the class or I the teacher has learned more during our association, lerhars i t would be best to here that we all advanced in our v;ay of lifs. Learning could be simply defined as a teacher who cares snd something a student does v ith books. Ours is not a lar e high school; however, what it lacks in size •'s compensated bp the close relationships between student body and faculty. The result of this condition has awarded all concerned a little more compassion, tolerance, and respect. The curriculum is usually a full one. We admit the lack of ? science laboratory and athletic facilities. EVERY, student is rerared for college. The lectures and examinations not only rave your brain facts and figures, it also lit the dark places, -be unknown and the first steps to thinking. I must, however, warn you of the difference between knowledge and wisdom. The '-’tter must not be neglected. It includes character, manners, morals, and a healthy sense of values. Someone once said that knowledge is knowing the stove is hot; wisdom is keeping the '’'’nrers away. Suffice it to say that education is not all book work. A if h school diploma should be a symbol that you, the graduate, re a much better individual than four years ago. You have been '-irressed w5th the fact that the fate of civilizations depends -n the education of youth; you have been influenced with the idea Mist the striving for wealth, material things, have created false -tsndards, so much so, that peace within ourselves and leisure e been derived, with the art of living wisely lost; and fin- ely, it is my hope that you have cultivated the art of loving, oornizing the many kinds of love, not so much with the eyas as ' th the heart. '''our seniors, four girls, and all potential mothers. What less nfr! J have often heard it said that it is easier to rule kingdom than to regulate a family. However, I know you four • ls will fare well. You will realize soon enough that the prin- ■ pal business of life is to enjoy it; remember, if only one thing rMd,.....take life with a sense of humor.
