fog 1 luo The mind of man Is like a piece of land that, to be useful must be manured with learning, ploughed with energy, sown with virtue, and harvested with economy. F i IN DEDICATION Grant Bennett bility is a poor man's wealth; his gentleness there is strengt Mr. Bennett was born in Baning Creek, six miles south of Prescott. He symbolizes the true Amer- ican westerner, working as a miner and rancher. Later in years he settled in Clarkdale; he was school custodian for several years. In 1937 he moved to Mayer. Three years later the Mayer Schools were priviledged to have Mr. Bennett as school custodian. Now 20 years later, we find him as spry, cheerful, and patient as when he first began with the excellent services. Many a child who sat on his lap is now a parent. We are hoping to have him with us for many more years to come. His spirit and effervescent nature is as synonymous with Mayer Schools as the sun is with Arizona. What he leaves behind Is raournfulness, to his family and friends, aching hearts and tearful eyes. Yet are these lamentations and mournful chants befitting the passing of a good boy? Perhaps singing hymns are more ap- propriate and meaningful because Dennis has entered a diviner life. Death is so permanent, but no less Dermanent than the spirit he left behind. Dennis graduated from life to death very early. Perhaps heaven gives its favorite an early death; or it may be that he whom the Gods favor die young. It 3nowed that fatal morning when Dennis went away. The whiteness of the snow, the purity of the coming dawn........so symbolic of the virtues and good- ness of Master Dennis. We remember him as a Hardball Leaguer. He was more than a 3tar ballplayer; he was a Living Big Leaguer. He not only gave his all on the ball field, but in everyday living, as a child to his parents, as a student to his teachers, and as a buddy to his friends. Little Denny, as he was sometimes ca led, was a devoted brother, dedicated to his schooling, a?fv, n enc a e kis associates. He may have been talented ith hot grounders, and riding horses and burros, but he is to be remembered more for his gift of giving love, the many a nds some of us learned from this seventh grader. v- .. 30 ear Denny, wherever you are, we know that you ia e oun a burro. Some of us • er If it's a figment of our imSgination or if the strad- dled boy on the burro, hobbling through Mayer, is still around. irIon Wayne Bennett Born March 24, 1942 Prescott, Arizona Marion's most vivid moment during his twelve years at Mayer jhools was the time he was caught smoking. For this reason he Laima to have given up the habit at the age of eight. Within ght of his classmates, Marion was clobbered with a rolled calen- r. This senior's hobbies include bronco riding, (horses of course) to mechanical repairs, dancing, (with girls) and bowling. Favorite subjects include physics, physical education, and ychology. Marion plans to become an electrician. rd Hankins Born October 11, 1942 Rushville, Indiana Loyd likes to break” horses, dance, an affinity for irking ichers, and attend drive-in movies, with girls. This dynamic student admits to enjoying history and psychology; •Is, his most perplexing subject, seems to over-shadow all other fcerests. Eoyd was first introduced to girls at the age of three � n he attended a birthday party. f He has no present aspirations; however, after a year of hard [ k this senior will probably be found on some campus as a freshman. ?t Teskey Born October 6, 1942 Prescott, Arizona ■ an o3-der sister at the University in Tucson, this senior n 3ame trail. I am certain he will need more teeth to grind than he has if he continues to mess around. To Gary Orr I leave my dilapitated desk, full of gum wrappers and cheat lists. I hope he will share these with Gloria Bennett and Fred Teskey. I, Marion Bennettt do hereby leave to the undergraduates my athletic abilities and charming personality. I leave them the spirit that has made me the successful dynamic individual that I am. I, Bert Teskey, cheerfully leave my old address book to my kid brother Fred. I also leave him my formula for being popular with incoming coeds. To Gary Orr I leave mixture of hair oil, a drop to curl any bald head. I would like to leave the keys to Mr. Bartimus' car, but I must return them as I had to put down a deposit. Senior Prophecy In 1970 we envision Bert Teskey pumping cesspools for the growing community of Dugas. From a population of'four to six, it has grown to 1,200 residents. (This excludes the mules.) Bert hasn't lost his vigor or personality smile, but, as in school, hasn't found the right mate. We understand, to help overcome this social deficiency, he is trying every new after- shave lotion. J Continuing along our sojourn in Arizona we meet Marion Bennett, now a rancher and married man. His love for animals will probably find him feeding his favorite pets, the pigs, we will be introduced to his wife, probably with a name like Angelica. Angel, as Marion calls her, is a 260 pound woman, we understand that when they were married they threw peanuts instead of rice. I, Sharon Puller in my last Will and Testament, I leave my broken pen and pencil set to Prances Olvera. I also Will ray unmagnetized notebook to Barbara Hankins. I, Leroy Makinson, do hereby Will my used eraser and chewed pencil to Terry Terrell. I would like to leave my comic books to Barbara Hankins. 8th Year Prophecy In about 1975 we see Ronald Lipps driving a Rolls-Royce. However, he is not alone. Three young women accompany him on a 9o rile an hour ride in the backwoods country. True to form, ho 13 riding with a blond, and two redheads. Suddenly there is the sound of a police siren. Lo and behold who is in uniform but Billie Ray'. Dashing Ronnie (as the girls call him) asks Billie how she feels. Billie replies, Fine, $500. Imagine seeing Linda Masse coaching the Baltimore Colts, the successful professional football team.
