SENIOR CLASS HISTORY On a bright September morning the Senior Class of 1956 began their edu- cation. Miss Singletary was our first grade teacher, During this year there were quite a few times that gum was on someone's nose or had his nose in a ring on the blackboard, Shirley seemed to have a little trouble getting the charcoal gurn off, since it was stuck so tight on her nose. We have only six of the students still with us, who were in the first grade. They are Joyce, Ginger, Melba, Raybtun. H.L., and Shirley. Mrs. Coker was our second grade teacher. During the third grade quite a few recess periods were spent in the class room writing rules to be remembered. Mrs. Gray was our teacher that year. During the fourth grade was our first year to meet Mr. and Mrs. Dotson, Mrs. Dotson being our teacher that year, During the fifth and sixth grades we became acquainted with Mr, and Mrs, Fitzgearld. We liked to play baseball these two years. We also acquired Royce Wilson, who seems to have influenced Rayburn's life during the last few years. Rayburn seemed to have been quite strong during the sixth grade. We could never forget the time he hit a desk and a window light fell out! The seventh and eighth grades are remembered by playing basketball. We also came to know Frankie Henderson in the eighth grade, We sometimes wondered if Mr. Perry would ever fulfill his threat and make us write that Texas History book. During the Freshman year Donal and Dearl, became members of our class. We also staged a one -act play called Wildcat Willie. This play was a suc- cess and helped to get our annuals out of the post-office. We spent much of our Sophomore year going to basketball games. Billy Newsom joined our class and helped us in our arguments in Safety Education. Our Junior year opened with the thought of basketball, getting our class rings and the banquet. When we received our rings we were very proud of them, We thought they were the prettiest in the land, We staged a success- ful play that year called Wonder Boy. Our banquet was sponsored by Mrs. Tomlin, who worked diligently with us to get all those roses made. It was held at Smith's Cafe in Rusk and Judge Brown was the speaker. We also had some enjoyable entertainment from Lon Morris College. It turned out to be a huge success and of course we were proud to have given this successful banquet. Frances Smith came to our class that year and helped us out in our work, Our Senior year has opened with a bang, We have all been busy working on the annual, plays, basketball, and various other things. Also recently we have seen a little courting around school, But we are still all Old Maids and Bachelors, CSO Farlj S
