Boys' Athletics During the course of the year, the boys manage to get quite a bit done in gym. The boys then work inside for several weeks of basketball. The next sport taught is wrestling. After that, there are tum- bling and gymnastics. Getting ready to play the girls, the boys then practice volleyball. In the last few weeks of school, the boys are again with the girls, this time playing softball. Another co-recreational sport is bombardment. The main purpose of gym is to teach the fun- damentals, and to develop skills in physical activities. Some of the boys are good enough in the sports to serve as referees.

Girls' Athletics During the year the girls participate in a variety of sports. These are speed-a-way, volleyball, basketball, rhythmball, gymnastics, track and soft- ball. Sometimes, between major sports or on rainy- days, the girls play games like scooter ball and bombardment, or have relays thought up by Miss Krack and Miss Chipas. While participating in gym, the girls develop their skills and increase their knowledge of sports. Athletics also increases muscle ability and the agility of the body. Girls learn the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork as they take part in organized sports activities. Intramurals is a voluntary program of athletics after school. The girls' intramural activities in- clude volleyball, basketball, and gymnastics.
