HAROLD MORGAN Sparnsh The main goals of the Spanish Department are for each student to learn a basic vocabulary and to have a better understanding of the Spanish people and customs. The students also sing Spanish songs and original dialogs. ln the advanced classes there are days when the class speaks only in Spanish. Each student has a set of ear phones which enable him to listen to Spanish spoken by natives. Flashcards, records, filmstrips, and tapes are also used. MRS. CARMICHAEL USES the chalkboard to show students how to write a Spanish sentence. 38 Phy9caIEducaUOn The Objectives of physical education are to play different sports, learn the rules, improve co- ordination, learn to be good sports and, for ninth graders, learn first aid. The boys' gym classes do many things during the school year. Some of these are participating in football, basketball, wrestling, track and soft- ball. The girls have speed-a-way, softball, basket- ball, and track during the year. JAYNE THOMPSON DEMONSTRATES the proper way to use the ropes in gym class. MRS.
