Miss Sears and Mrs. Biggs, counselors, discuss the enrollment assembly. 6 MRS. LARINE BIGGS o n Mrs. Shirley, nurse, takes the temperature of Debra Riner in the health room. MISS MARIANNA SEARS Counselors The counselors at Mayberry spend hours each week working with students who need special help in many different areas. Both Mrs. Biggs and Miss Sears help students en- roll in courses for the next year. Also they work with students who need help with vo- cational and other educational problems. Students may also go to either of the coun- selors when they have a personal problem with which they need advice. Mrs. Biggs is the eighth and ninth grades counselor, and Miss Sears, who also serves another junior high half days, is the seventh grade counselor. Students, how- ever, may see either counselor regardless of grade if necessary. Both counselors HAVE been specially trained to work with students and their varied problems. Nurse The Mayberry nurse is Mrs. Shirley. While only at Mayberry part of the time, she nevertheless performs many valuable services for students. Many students think of a nurse only when they are ill, but, while Mrs. Shirley does work with them, she does a number of other things. In addition to keeping student health records up to date, she conducts dental checks and eye examinations. She also gives demonstrations to some of the classes at Mayberry.

Secretaries Mrs. Marilyn Dole and Mrs. janet Rose Office Staff Mayberry's office staff consists of Mrs. Rose, Mrs. Dole, and Mrs. Stabler. Mrs. Rose takes care of attendance at Mayberry. She enrolls new students, takes messages, and types bulletins She keeps the school records, and Writes letters. Mrs. Dole's main job is keeping payrolls, writing checks, keeping book rentals, and handling the data process- ing materials. She calls sub- stitutes When teachers are ill. Mrs. Stabler is May- berry's attendance aid. I-ler Work includes going to the homes of students and helping them with their attendance problems. Attendance Aid Mrs. Stabler . Library One of the areas that most students al- most never miss is the school library. Mrs. Armstrong is in charge of the library and as the librarian is responsible for keeping the library in order and ordering new books and rebinding old ones. Mrs. Armstrong is also the one whom teachers see when they want special help in providing supplemental books for their units One of the librarian's special jobs is to help students find books to read for enjoy- ment. Mrs. Armstrong is always ready for helping students in this area. Mr. Whitehouse uses one of the many books found in the Mayberry library. MRS. MARILYN ARMSTRONG wi MR. WAYNE MEANS . t idid stss J R Speech Although at Mayberry only 9. short time each week, the speech clinician, Mr. Means, works with students who have speech and hearing problems. He not only gives Various speech and hearing tests to students but also works with some students to help them improve their communication skills. While Mayberry is his base school -- that is, he reports here for information from his colleauges -- Mr. Means also works with students from several other schools, inclu- ding high school and elementary school. Mr. Means works with two students helping them communi cate better with fellow students.
