In 1883 a two room school burldrng was constructed at Maxwell Srxteen smgle room drstrrct schools were mamtamed rn Center Townshtp Two addmons were made to the two room burldrng to make rt a srx room burldmg In 1914 thrs burldxng was con demned by the State Board of Health Steps were taken to construct a new school as hrgh as the second floor and the Jorsts were also lard for the fust two floors Due to lack of funds work was suspended untrl 1916 when rt was completed The hrgh school at Maxwell was organized in the fall of 1898 The frrst class to com plete the four year course graduated LH 1903 Consolxdatton was completed rn 1935 when the Mohawk School was closed The gymnasxurn was burlt Ln 1941, A modem four room grade burldtng was constructed and put Lnto operauon rn 1952 house, which is the present building.
