H0 OR OCIE TY The Maxwell Chapter of the National Honor Society was established in October of 1970. Eight members from the junior and senior classes and one provisional member from the sophomore class were chosen by a faculty coun- cil of tive. They were installed at a high school assembly by the Collins Honor Society. Members were chosen for their qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and service. The Honor Society helped sponsor the high school Christmas party with the FTA. During Earth Week, the group led a clean-up project on the highways leading from Maxwell. A rummage sale was held as a money raising project. In April, three new members, one new provisional member, and an honorary member fKarl Rabej were in- stalled. Marlene Ratzlaff, secretary, was appointed at the first meeting. The student council sponsored the Homecoming dance, with the County Fann playing. In November the group organized an experimental youth center at the V. F. W. Hall. In February, the council raflled a stuffed dog at the carnival, held to raise money for new stage curtains.
