All Aboard For Futurama is the slogan of the senior travelers of Mauston High School as they leave on Track 55 at 8:00 P. M. on Friday, May 27. Cheering them on to success in their various endeavors are their schoolmates who remain at the station after the departure of their senior friends. Whillaer are they bound? That is a question which each traveler must answer him- self. The choice is entirely up to him. Each is at liberty to select his own goal, name his point of destination, and secure and hold his own ticket for that point. Some of our travelers, as they leave Mauston High, already hold tic- kets for their points of destination. There are many who are undecided as to the direction in which they wish to travel. Planning a trip like this calls for a great deal of thought and consideration. It must be one which the trav- eler knows he will enjoy. There is no trip that is mapped out to perfection. Different routes, detours, and various ,i ORGANIZATIONS EDITOR Cecilia LaBudda ART EDITOR Jacqueline Bates F A-FQN 5 JUNIOR CLASS EDITOR SOPHOMORE CLASS EDITOR FRESHMAN CLASS EDITOR FACULTY EDITOR Mabel Waltman David Kmnzen janet Phillips Delores Kammski on froclc 55 obstructions will appear on any tripg however, experiences gained in school should help each traveler in the success- ful continuation of his trip through life. just how well he will overcome the many problems which will present them- selves depends entirely on his own initiative. There will be no driving force except his own to see that he gets to a certain point at the appointed time. Senior travelers, leaving on TRACK 55, have com- pleted the first phase of their trip. This book is a record of the happenings which took place during the senior phase of their school trip. It assumes the purpose of a diary as it records the many enjoyable times each traveler experi- enced while associating with others on his trip through school. It is a pictorial record of the many who send their best wishes to each senior as he answers the call All Aboard For Futurama. Wfe sincerely hope that this Hammer will serve each traveler as a reminder of the many moments of disappoint- ments, happiness, and triumphs which it was his lot to ex- perience while a traveler through Mauston High School. The Indians, who have been conference champs in football for a long time, were no ex- ception this year. Playing against a much faster backfield and more ex- perienced line, the Eagles proved no match for the Indians. Pongratz scored all four of their touchdowns. REEDSBURG 0 1 41 Reedsburg, feated up to this time, played its best in this game. The Eagle's only near touchdown was made by Nick Hosig on an intercept- ed pass which he ran back to the three-yard line. Mauston then fumbled the ball and lost its chance to score. BARABOO 0 i- 27 A very muddy field and rainy night proved to be an advantage to Baraboo in this game. Mauston played a good rough and hard-fought game against one of the bigger teams in this confer- ence but had to submit to the better team. WISCONSIN DELLS 7 l 19 This game was played on Mauston's field. The Dells had a very hard-run- ning backfield. The Eagles put up a very good fight but ended on the short end of the score. A pass from Reigard to Garske scored our only touchdown. Mauston was one of the three teams to score against the Dells this year. NEKOOSA 13 - 20 This was Nekoosa's Homecoming game and although we outplayed them all through it, a few bad breaks cost us a victory. Don Knutzen made both touchdowns, one of which was an 85- yard kickoff return. SPARTA 20 -- 13 The team played its best of the season in our Homecoming game. The Eagles were all fired up and wanted to win. Tom Reigard made a touch- down in the first quarter. Sparta came back with a touchdown and tied the score. A kick, blocked by Fred Leppin and recovered in the end zone by Bob Rossin, put us in the lead again. Sparta's next touchdown tied the DUANE SCHLUTER score again. Don Knutzen then caught an 82-yard pass from Reigard to score and with Reigard's two extra points, we broke the tie and won the game. VIROQUA 7 - 13 This game was a definite upset. The Eagles were favored to win for the first time, but maybe because of our winning the game just the week be- fore or because Viroqua practiced day and night for this game, we lost by a score of 7 to 13. Our only touchdown was made by Leppin. Reigard made the extra point. NEW LISBON 14 1 7 A victory was a good way to end the season. We avenged last year's loss by winning this game. The New Lis- bon team fought hard against the Eagles, but it proved to be no match for them. Our opponents who played their best game of the season made a desperate try to take the game in the second half but couldn't succeed. Touchdowns were scored by senior ends, Zorbaugh and Winter, on passes from Kudlas and Reigard. Reigard kicked both points.
