Last Will And Testament State of North Carolina County of Greene City of Maury We, the departing class of ’53, presumably being of sound body and definitely without sound mind, do leave to Maury High School! Though we are lost and gone forever, we are going to present to the leftover scholars a few of our treas- ured belongings — the ones we can do without. We will and bequeath our gratitude and undying devotion to our parents who have so patiently shared these years’ experience with us. To our faculty goes a year’s supply of aspirin, arsenic, and Hadacol. Compli- ments of the Class of ' 53. To Mrs. Olive, our class teacher, we will her a one way ticket to Kalamozoo, since she speaks of its so much. Ann Beaman wills her neat little figure and doll-like appearance to Harriet Wade. Joseph Pippin leaves to David May his sense of humor and laughter. James Carraway wills his ability to keep a secret to Mary Lou Moye. Ruth Murphery wills her good-looking frame with its accessories to Eunice Shackleford. Ruth Graves wills her cuteness and half her freckles to Evelyn Tyson. Oscar Ross wills his curly hair to Edgar Lowe. Jackie Jones wills her never-to-be-forgotten smile to Nannie Mae Suggs to carry on the tradition of friendship. Ray Beaman leaves his 6 ' 2 to Kermit Bunn, an advantage to playing basket- ball. Joe Jones wills his nickname “Brains” to Hiriam Murphery. Erma Johnson leaves her pleasing personality to Billy Turnage, hoping that he will use it. Jo Ann Hedgepeth wills her Athletic Skill to Ann Faulkner, who is a most deserving receiver. Ellen Johnson leaves her ambitious nature to Ada Moore. Be sure and take the right road Ada. Bill Carroll wills his Firey Temper to Jimmie Meadows. Don’t let it over take you Jimmie. Bonnie Rouse wills her voice to Dolly Jones, so that she can be heard in Mrs. Olive’s English Class. Robert Lee Moye wills his walk to Billy Garris. Edith Horne wills her pug-nose to anyone who would like it. Virginia Stocks wills her never tiring talking nature to Comolia May. Willie Faulkner wills his cute ways and friendliness to the many deserving Juniors. Marietta Tripp Spikes leaves her ability in art to Irene Bowen. Eloise Bowen wills “Just” 2 pounds and 3 ounces of her weigth to Alice Faye Moye, so she will have more prospect of catching a boyfriend. Bobby Meadows wills his way of getting along with people to Jean Davis. Evonne Smith wills her quietness to Lula Moore. Faye Wooten wills her long curled up eye lashes to Pat Wood. Herman Croom wills all of his overweight to Bobby McLawhorn. Albert Wood wills his way with the “wimmin” to Carson Beaman. Edwin Earl Jones wills his School Bus to Lawrence Moye with the hope that he won’t be late everyday. And to the rest of you— well, we just leave you, hnd what we don’t give you, you can take! And I, on this, the fifteen day of January, in the year of our Lord, one thousand, nine hundred and fifty-three, do sign and seal this testament, as my last official act and bequeath it to the Beta Club for publication — Amen.
