L Aa55 As the school year comes to a close, we the class of 19 52, find ourselves ? -m. rs. Along with the joy and the thankfulness, we fear the thoughts of leaving school, our teachers, our classmates. Our thoughts naturally wonder oack through our high school days. In 1943 Maury High claimed a group of proud freshmen. As this was our first year in high school, we began to notice the difference from grammar school. We worked together and had a fine year under the leadership of Mrs. Harriet James . School has started againandhere we are sophomores with Mr. Garland Little as our home room teacher. Along with all our work we had some fun too. In the spring we had a weinner roast in Ayden at Mr. Little ' s home. At last, we are juniors. Although we are decreasing in numoer we are filled vith high expectations. This is the year we order our rings, present our junior play, and best of all give that Junior-Senior Banquet. We presented our play. Take It Easy, December . April 19 was that proud day we had our Tunior- Senior Banquet in Hotel Cherry in Wilson. The climax of our junior year was tne crip to Washington, D. C Because of a small senior class we were given t.ie privilege of going along with them. This was a very educational trip; not only the history of Washington but also the history of the class. We discovered ur song birds, Wallace Stocks and Charles Vick, on the way home. And now it is September again and .ve begin as 21 proud seniors with Mrs. Graham Olive, teacher. We have really oeen looking forward to this year, especially those diplomas and class rings. Our class officers were: President, Julius Hughes; Vice -President, Ann Elks ; Secretary, Bessie Morgan; Treasurer, Bobbie Sue Bowen; Reporter, Thelma Stocks. At Christmas we had a class party at Bobbie Sue Bowen ' s home. Christmas not only brought us a party but also a ne.v memoer, Doris Mozingo, from Robersonville. For our class colors and flower we chose green and yellow and gladioli. As our record here at Maury High Schoox comes to an end, we will always remember our happiness and mishaps. We sincerely thank our parents and the faculty for so patiently helping us through our high school days. May we live up to our motto, We strive for higher goals. Deane Wooten Historian
