Theme . . . Because of the harmonious spirit that exists among the pupils of Maury High School, and because we hope that this spirit will broaden into a better adult understanding in human relationships, we, the Class of 1948, have selected Harmony as the theme for our yearbook. As symbolic of this harmony, we should like for the reader to visualize a large symphony orchestra. From the birth of the theme in the mind of. the composer to the seldom-heard clang ofthe cymbalist as he interprets the score, there must transpire a blending of many minds, many wills, many talents into one great achievement-the symphony. VVe hope that when the last pages of this book have been gazed upon, the reader will have gleaned another thought from our theme: that all men, regardless of race or creed, must work together to produce the masterpiece of which they dream-the masterpiece of universal harmony.
