SOPHOMORE HOME ROOM REPRESENTATIVES Front-Catherine I.oCascio, Mary Knudsen, Marie VVilkins, Faye Ford, Shirley Gornto, Virginia Harlield, Jackie Hart. Row 2-Dan West, Joe Carson, William Martin, Jack Burgess, Carlton Creech, Robert Baum, Stanley Paul, David Stewart, Chester Sundquist. Miss Carolea Harris, our sponsor, on her hrst appearance before us, reminded us that a chain is as strong as its weakest link. From then on, we began Welding ourselves into a class that could pull its Weight in the affairs of the school. Our first step in organization was electing class officers and representatives to various activities. Then We got into the current of things at Maury. Our class presented several programs in the auditorium. We ourselves enacted the annual Commodore Maury program, during which the model of Maury's ship was giving into our keeping. On W'ashington's birthday, the theme of our program was Brotherhood,,' with Barbara Howe making a beautiful and impressive Statue of Liberty. For our religious program of the year, we had with us the rector of St. Paulis church and the Maury chorus, the latter, as a vested choir, singing sacred hymns. The Sophomore party, given by the numerous organizations of Maury, to the Sophomore class, Was a valuable and highly agreeable innovation, suggested by Mary Nell Baker and Allan Pannill. Yet besides these activities, We can proudly say our class has contributed in various ways to the schoolis life. Among us are cheer leaders, athletes, and students with honor-roll recog- nition. In fact, the entire Sophomore Class should be commended for its spirit of co-operation and its achievements.
