As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly—and listen to others, even the dull and ig- norant, they, too, have their story. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. In the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul. With all its shame, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. 4 EDITORS: Kevin Cummins Ann Huck FACULTY Fr. Fid win Watson Fr. Seniors class officere, L.-R.; Mary Webber, President; Sheila Kelly: Colleen Donovan. Secretary, and .Joan Penning. Treasurer. As long as there has been the new Mount, there has been the class of seventy-four. The two grew up together, living a common history, but now the class of ’74 must bid farewell and move on. The Mount, whose walls have witnessed its story, remains to watch other classes and other stories. If those walls could only speak! They would tell how ’74, sounding an energetic melody, cared to reach out with a helping hand to teach unity to the Mount. The distilled essence of ’74 can be stated very simply as quality. And when this quality is added to their constant quantity, the unparalleled potential of ’74 is illustrated. Even as freshmen, they expressed a sharp insight to their potential by selec- ting red and white as their class colors. For the vitality of red so closely cor- responded to the vitality of ’74. Red symbolized the urge to achieve results, to win success; it is the impulse towards active doing and thus a synonym for ’74. With the spring, the members of’74 separate to distribute themselves to the world. At the Mount, their legacy lives on. 100 MARY BETH AMREIN SUSAN ANDERSON JEANNE AARON MARIA RAQUEL ACEVEDO SHANNON MARIE AGNEW KAREN BAADE VIRGINIA BAUMGARTNER SARA ELISABETH BOSSE JoANN BALL CYNTHIA BLACKWOOD MARY BETH BRENTANO - ANNE ERNESTINE BAUMAN JAYNE SUSAN BLOCK REBECCA BROOKER 101 MARY ELIZABETH CASHIN KAREN LEE CUMMINGS KIMBERLY CATHERINE COKE MAUREEN ELIZABETH DAVIS JANE SUE BURKART PAMELA GAIL CONKLIN ALMA DELIA DE LA FUENTE 102 GUADALUPE DE LA FUENTE ELAINE LOUISE DOWELL LAURA ANN FINAN MARY CAROL DIEBOLT SHEILEEN DOYLE FLOYDEAN FITZGERALD COLLEEN DONOVAN KATHLEEN ELLEBRACHT CAROL ELAINE GOODIN 103 SUSAN MARY GONZALES SUSAN KATHLEEN HALLLNG SARA ELIZABETH HURTZ PAULA VANESSA GORMAN DEBRA DIANE HESS CARMEN AURARA ISAAC Women’s Lib! Their willingness to put forth a striving ef- fort brings out their enthusiasm and co-operation to work together. As large as the class may be, the sophomores are really united as one, showing their strength, classwise and individually. Everyone has something to give and something to share. Success is their goal. Although the sophomores have already made quite a name for themselves, they have yet a story to reveal. Of all the achievements made this year, perhaps the most outstanding is the bonfire. The hard work that was put into it, gave each Sophomore a certain glow and pride for their class. It is amazing to some that a single unit, the class of 1977, can hold such pride, faithfulness, and loyalty to their school as well as their own class. The Freshmen have an unmistakable advantage over their fellow Mounties with their ability to hold together as one. They inspire other classes with a treasure chest of essential resources necessary to unify a loyal, spirited class. The class of ’77 possesses a un- ique and single form of personality projected in daily work and school activities. After the exercise these young men dropped their title of “BIG SENIORS and started another way of life through college, the armed ser- vices, trade schools, or work. Maur Hill Seniors enjoyed a coeducational religion program with Seniors from their sister school, Academy of Mt. St. Scholastica. This coeducational program was diligently studied over the last two years. Every six weeks they would study another facet in their way of life through religion. Their high school religion program came to a climax with Baccalaureate Mass when Father Thomas Tank, archdiocesan youth director, gave them some guidelines for their future. The long awaited last week for Seniors held many tradi- tional events; Rose and Candle, Junior and Senior Ban- quet, May Crowning, and Induction into the Alumnae As- sociation.
