The members of the faculty are dedicated, pragmatic teach- ers trying to bring the best education and development pos- sible to Maur Hill. They have many firm opinionated ideas on how this can be accomplished, which might cause them to be closeminded or even bigoted - certainly detrimental to a con- structive atmosphere. This dif- ference of opinion can also, how- ever, bring about full discussion on an issue, and thus new ideas for improvement. That student growth is some- what hurt by inconsistent disci- pline caused by differing opinions is also true, yet it places the burdens of decision on the stu- dent, who must ultimately judge himself and his actions in re- lation to no one but himself. In conclusion, the faculty (like any group of human beings) has its faults and virtues - some in greater proportion to others, depending on whom one talks to - yet they have a sense of purpose and willingness to co-operate; prerequisites for any construct- ion and growth.

Edwin traveled extensively attending various fund-raising gatherings for the financial support and future expansion of Maur Hill. Fr. Kieran continued to govern the school in Fr. Edwin's absence. One of the more notable achievements of his administration was the cancellation of the demerit system and student handbook in hopes that a less legalized disciplinary system might promote more student re- sponsibility and growth.
